The slide release (the lever just above the trigger) goes on the other side. a very nice effort though.

Slide release on a real 1911A1 is on the port side, as well as the magazine release button. There should be a notch on the slide for the safety to catch into and, as mentioned earlier, the stock should be notched so as not to block the safety. Beautiful vision of a gun though.

I'm fairly confident that a pistol like this could actually exist if a custom gunsmith were given enough time to do the work.  Very nice looking concept, looks like it belongs in the RE universe!  I do have one thing to note, however it isn't that big a deal as you mentioned that this image was created through multiple images--the ambidextrous safety here doesn't have room to disengage as it's blocked by the wood portion of the grip.  I mention this because I once owned a Taurus PT1911 with ambi safety, with this very grip (a Pachmayr American Legend, to be exact), and I had to file off a portion of the top right grip to give the safety enough room to fully disengage.

I do have to ask where you found the image for the hammer.  I've never seen an M1911 hammer like that, and I like how it looks here!

Thanks for the info about the safety, I actually never knew that, but as for the hammer, it's a pretty standard ring hammer on Para-Ordnance's PXT series which is based on the M1911.

why not putting night sights on them guns? should be tough for umbrella operatives to shoot at night

RedZaku In reply to Cadabria [2013-09-29 18:42:02 +0000 UTC]

Well the Colt is meant for the RPD, so they don't operate exclusively at night and the USS have night vision/heat vision built into their masks so I didn't see the need to add night sights on the weapons I designed for Umbrella.

Very cool. I'd love to see something even remotely like this in the RE world, getting sick of the Samurai Edge/Berretta. Although the Lightnin Hawk/Desert Eagel is pretty awesome...

I stumbled across this looking for inspiration for a M1911 design project I have become attached to and I have to stop and applaud this. I always wondered why only the Berreta 92 & 96 series got the Samurai Edge custom treatment in the RE series. I would have loved to have seen something like this M1911 in the hands of Chris or Jill as an alternate choice in that mansion.

Good use of some of the many custom options.
Especially liked the custom RCPD medallion with the Pachmayr American Legends grips.

With your permission I would like to use some of this piece for a template of a potential RE homage 1911 of my own.

First off, let me say thank you for that wonderful compliment, I'm glad anything I make can bring any amount of joy to people. Second, I would have no problem at all allowing you to use any of this design in your M1911 template, in fact I would be honored by it.

Whether my project ends up here as a design only or as a fully finished working piece of hardware, You will be the first to know about it.

Someone mentioned to me that you need an RE custom Browning Hi-Power. Either RCPD or STARS. If you were to continue such a series of images in the future.

From one gun guy and RE fan to another Thanks again.

I was actually thinking of continuing the line with the original default Handgun of RE5 which was a Colt1911 slide paired with a Barret frame, but I might get around to a Browning HP eventually. Anyway, I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

one word: UGLY. Way too much going on, with guns, they have to be classy. You can't just throw shit on em to make them look good. I'd feel like a complete tool if I had to lug around that thing.

RedZaku In reply to TheMichaelMacRae [2011-12-01 03:49:46 +0000 UTC]

Believe it or not but all those add-on's are actually functional. Compensator, slide vents, new grip all help with accuracy, but increasing grip on the gun, and reducing recoil, and a rail system for tactical mounts. It's not just there to look pretty.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheMichaelMacRae In reply to RedZaku [2011-12-01 05:18:12 +0000 UTC]

But it doesn't look pretty. It looks like a mishmash or random textures and gismos. it looks like you couldn't decide on what kind of look you were going for so you just threw in everything. It doesn't look slick, it doesn't look classic, it doesn't look modern, it looks like a hodgepodge. You can still have all these functions on a gun and have it look good. Just unify it all into one visual style and try to lose some of the 'ultra cool' jagged lines and overly stylized aesthetics.

I like it's look as do many others if you've got issues take them somewhere else.

I'm just giving a critique, don't get offended. (and just by briefly skimming through these guy's profiles... I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them)

All you would need to do to fix this gun is, like I said, unify the aesthetic, either go all out on the black matte, or go all out on the chrome metal. And definitely lose the obnoxious looking textured grip (whatever you call it) at the rear of the gun where you would pull it back to release the round. It gives the gun some sort of gothic wannabe look... really really lame.

And don't mix the two grips, either stick with the redish wood finish, or stick with the matte black grip. It looks really un realistic what you've done there.

Well it is, in that it's made up of numerous different Colt M1911 Photo all pieced together. So it's more a collage then anything.
