Inspired by their fond memories as a club band for the House of Mouse, the three triplets; Huey, Duey, and Louie decided to form a new band. HDL Format. Instead of going for an alternative rock or indie pop sound that would be more popular nowadays, the trio was inspired by the sounds of electronic big beat music. Breakbeat Hardcore if you want to be more specific.
What started out as side hobby with their friends in the basement of Uncle Scrooge's mansion ended up becoming the new staple in the rave scene. One new particular event that always seems to bring the biggest and most diverse crowd is one called "Nineties Rave Party" This one involves performing a mixture of original songs with popular staples from the heyday of 90's raves. It's nostalgic, accessible, different, and most importantly for the trio, it is fun!

First off, Happy Late New Year everyone! It's been a little while since I've uploaded on here and I wanted to make sure I started off this new year with a celebratory bang!

Some you probably might remember this one back when it was a pen sketch last month. I honestly intended on having this done in time for New Year's but between doing work and just realizing how involved this piece would become, it ended up being postponed. I had been meaning to do another crowd scene for the longest with another music theme and this one just came to me.

The piece ended having more of a painterly look rather than the sketchy look I initially considered on having for this one. Getting the colors for the shadows and lighting to look right took the longest to iron out.
I originally considered having only 90's characters from Disney at one point, but I ended up branching out to other characters from differing studios. Some are in full view, others are hidden, and some are slightly off model. See how many you can spot. I included at least 14.

One thing I should confess is that I have been really, REALLY addicted to big beat electronic music over the past few months. I've never really listened to this kind music before until now, and I have no idea why I didn't check it out sooner. One particular group from this genre called The Prodigy has quickly become one of my all time favorite bands!

It's not one of their more well known hits, but I feel it and the video, even though that goes for many of their songs, captured the chaotic but celebratory feel I wanted this piece to have.
