Jaidn's POV

The first time I met Aryn I had fallen in love at first sight. So when I heard that drunk bastard Rick brag to one of his drunk buddies about what he did to Aryn, I bolted. I feared for my love and rushed over. When I saw what he had done to him couldn't help the tangle of emotions that coursed through me.

I wanted to murder Rick for what he'd done but I had to take care of Aryn first. He came first, always first. That thought ran through my head as I laid the asleep Aryn in bed, having put him in boxers and getting myself dressed first. He looked so peaceful right now. I gave him a quick kiss to the forehead before I walked to the door and opened it.

Standing there was my cousin, Rein, and her mate, Analy. I left the door open to let them in and walked over to the bed to make sure Aryn was still asleep. "Here, Jaid, this should prevent him from having nightmares." she shoved a pill into my hand. I looked down at it then at her. "Is this."

She nodded, "Yeah, it's one of Analy's." I looked at Analy who stood right behind Rein then at her. "But Rein you-" "No, he needs this more than I do right now. Besides it's just one pill." she said then whispered in my ear, "Take care of your mate, Jaid."

I sighed, torn between taking care of my family and my love. "If you really want to give it to him." I said and she nodded. I walked to the bed and sat down on it next to Aryn. "Aryn, love. Wake up." I smiled and wondered how he would act if I tried to wake him up in the morning. "Come on, Aryn." He groaned again and whined, "What?" My smile broadened at how cute he looked and sounded.

"Take this. It will make sure you don't have nightmares. Then you can go back to sleep, ok." I said and he groaned again then grumbled an, "Ok." I chuckled quietly thinking that he probably wasn't a morning person and put the pill to his lips. He opened his mouth enough for me to put the pill in but didn't close his mouth. I put my hand on the back of his neck to tilt his head forward then held out my other hand for a glass. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Analy hand it to Rein then she put it in my hand. I poured some water in his mouth and waited for him to swallow before placing his head back onto the pillow. "Sweet dreams, Aryn." I whispered and kissed his forehead before I stood up and turned to the two in the room.

"Wow, Jaidn. You've got it bad." Analy said softly not meaning it as an insult since he was smiling slightly. I smiled and looked back at Aryn, "Yes, yes, I do."

"Raphael wants to yell at you for bringing a human into the house." Rein said after a pause. I sighed knowing that it was coming. "It's my house," I growled. "Don't take it out on me," Rein said, "I live here too."

"Yeah, sorry. Fine, I'll willingly go find him to have him yell at me." I said rubbing my temples in frustration. Rein placed her hand on my shoulder, "You have a valid reason to let Aryn into your life, Jaid. He's your mate." I sighed again, "Yeah, but I worried about him getting tangled in this life. Raph is just going to yell because he doesn't want the-" I paused and glanced at Rein. She smiled at me, "Just say it Jaid. You have more of a problem with it than I do."

I sighed again, "Because he doesn't want the next in line to the throne to be with a human." I looked at Aryn and couldn't help but think, He's more than just a human to me.

I walked to the door and out of the room, knowing that Rein and Analy were following behind me. When we got into the lounge room Raph was sitting staring at the door with a glare. Allen was sitting on a bar stool as far away from Raph as possible. When we got into the room Raph stood up and immediately started his rant.

"I am deeply disappointed in you. Not to mention the Elder Council is too. You are the next in line to the throne and you bring a human boy into your house." I clenched my jaw but let him rant. "A human. The rule was set, that humans were not allowed into a Vampyr's house, to make sure that they don't find out about us. We let is slide when you befriended a Wolven." I watched Allen flinch and had to bite the inside of my cheek to keep from blowing up. "But to have a human in your house is to bring death upon everyone. I expected better from the next King of Vampyr's."

When he didn't speak for a few seconds I asked with gritted teeth, "Are you done, yet? Because if you are done ranting about shit you assume without even listening to what I have to say on the matter, then I would like to remind you of some things.

"1.) I don't care what you or the Council think. 2.) The only reason I'm next in line I because you won't let Rein just because she's a Tri-Hybrid Crossbreed. 3.) Yes this is my house so I can let whoever in my house that I want. 4.) I became friends with a Wolven because he's not an asshole like some Vampyr's I know. 5.) He isn't just a human boy. Don't ever treat him as something other than that."

"Not just a human. HAH!!!" Raph laughed and I just barely resisted the urge to beat his face in. "Then what may I ask is he."

I heard Rein chuckle behind me as I growled some and pulled my shirt off, throwing it to the floor. "He's my mate." On my left shoulder was a symbol of a star what had swirls around it which all Vampyr's have but above the symbol was Aryn's name written in the Ancient Language.

I grinned as I watched Raphael's face pale as he realized he could have gotten attacked because of what he said. He swallowed a few times before he said quietly, "Since he is I hope he will take it well enough when he learns what you are. I'll take my leave now." He said and practically ran from the room.

When he left Rein and Allen burst out laughing and I could hear Analy's quiet chuckles. I chuckled as I picked up my shirt and watched Rein fall over, dragging Analy down with her. Which made them all laugh harder and I just shook my head as I pulled my shirt on.

"I'm going to check on Aryn." I said and all I got in answer were more laughs. I shook my as I walked back to my room. I smiled when I saw he was still asleep, curled up on his side facing the doorway.

I removed my shirt and pants and got into the bed next to him. He turned and curled up into my chest and I smiled before burying my face in his light shoulder length auburn hair. I really did hope that he would accept me for what I was, but then I knew not many can accept what I was. Not even my own kind will accept me for being a half-breed, but they say they need a king so they won't accept the Wolven in me.

"I don't expect you to accept me, Aryn. But I see the pain your in, I saw it when I first met you. I want to protect you, to love you. Even if you can't love me back. I'm- I'm nothing without you so please when you do learn about me. Even if you hate me then just please don't make me go away." I whispered to him and couldn't stop the tears from flowing. It would break my heart to never be near him again.
