Ian has many adaptations for living in various situations. He's a funny beast -- in terms of adaptations, he's a real "broken Swiss knife". His long build, high joints flexibility, and tenacious paws should make it easy for him to get wherever he wants to get, but his inhuman two tons worth of weight effectively prevent this exciting activity. He can't cling to the ceiling like a fly: either the ceiling won't stand his weight, or some of his body parts.
Which doesn't negate Ian's outstanding griping ability, and it's outstanding not just because he's big and, as a consequence, relatively strong. His palms and soles have a wrinkled, villous skin similar to that of a gecko. And the villi are not even so much for sticking as for sensing: in fact, both the red shell and the black "skin" are thick, hard coatings, and most of Ian's body surface has no idea of the surrounding conditions.
He doesn't even need the thumb to pick something up, he usually puts his palm over the object, and the object sticks, "picks itself up." And snatching something from him won't work either -- in such a situation, without exaggeration, it's easier to cut his hands off than to make him let go.
