This is another contest entry for the character that I will be calling Kiranji if I get it.
This is an entry to Kique's contest.
~~~~~~~~~
Kiranji shifted from paw to paw, narrowing her eyes. She swiveled her torn ears and sniffed the air, wrinkling her snout at the stench that wafted around. Her tail swished back and forth with impatience. She was waiting for prey to wander past her trap that she had designed and she wanted to see if it worked well or not. After about two hours she finally gave up, abruptly turning and walking across the snow, her pads feeling the sore, sharp pains of frostbite. The white blanket that had been covering the world had shown no signs of letting up, not even the slightest, and now Kiranji began to worry that there would never be an end to the ruthless winter, and end to the agonizing cold. The bitter frost that lingered would mist her breath and coat her fur in small bits of ice. Her pelt had taken on a glittering sheen and she looked almost ghostly, especially with the fading light. The darkness welcomed danger and death like a friend, the smell of decay would linger stronger, and the cries of pitiless creatures would fill the ears of one with fear. Her fur bristled, catching the light from the lasting sky, the small drips of orange-red color slowly being flooded with a silver, colorless night. This light would illuminate the ice on her pelt, the forest around her, everything around her and reflect from the snow, but only for a while. It wouldn't take long before even the silver light would be consumed by darkness. It always seemed as if the moon's light was suddenly blotched out for a about 3 hours of the night, and that was when the pained screams and bone-shattering screeching would eerily ring through the dark like a song of horror. That was the horrible moments of the night when no one could go without fear plaguing their heart and freezing their blood, fogging their brain and driving them to rather rash matters and reasonings. A lot of the creatures would lose their minds and fall victim to the creatures in their paralyzed and flightless fear or by their fear driven aggression. There always seemed like there was no escape from the terror and it had a tendency to drive even some of the bravest creatures to the end of their sanity, as far as Kiranji had seen.
