Chapter 4: Team Dark

He could already see how messy and ruined the city had become. Buildings had come down, fires roared. The world was filled with demonic chaos. Just as he passed the trees closest to the city, he was unintentionally tripped by a tall red robot. He felt like he had seen him somewhere before.

"Censors indicate that you are a friendly being—the first Shadow the Hedgehog." it said.

"What did you trip me for?" said hedgehog replied angrily, even though he had meant to question why someone else knew his name. He then heard the sound of wings. Friend or foe?

"Shadow! Thank goodness you're okay!" the winged creature—a white, busty bat wearing a tight black and pink outfit—said, landing swiftly in front of his, grabbing his arm as though they knew each other well. Yet another person who knew his name.

"Primary objective: destroy black creatures. Secondary objective: locate Doctor Eggman." the robot said.

"Omega!" the bat said. "You will be of use to us. Good to see you again!"

"Rouge, have you noticed Shadow's lack of activity since we have arrived?" Omega said. The strangers looked at him expectantly.

'Who do I trust? These strange people know me, as well as that demonic man from three minutes ago. Maybe if I follow my gut and go with them, I can find a few of the answers I'm looking for.' Shadow thought.

"Well, Shadow? You don't seem very pleased to see us after all these months." Rouge said.

'So I've lost months of my memory.' He thought back to the blonde human dying. 'Did the one called "Maria" die that recently? And was I able to do nothing?'

"I detect an alarming amount of confusion." Omega said. Shadow was shaken from his thoughts.

"Are you okay? Please tell me you haven't forgotten us, again…" Rouge looked disappointed. They both watched him… Omega with his round, red, robotic eyes, and Rouge with her blue, half-lidded ones. He glanced at one, and then the other.

"Let's get started." He finally said, taking off running.

"Hey, Shadow! Wait for us!" Rouge said as she and Omega did their best to follow suit.
