Description
Lin says, "So this is what you're trying to save?""Yeah," I say, "it is not much, but it is home."
"So the Admiral tells me you are some omniscient space intelligence. Would you care if, that is if you set everyone free, if we left?"
"You are free to go," I say. "I am not holding you here. You are always guests."
She pauses. "So you don't care or you could call us back whenever you wanted?"
I smile. "Did I pull you from the void 750,000 light years away from any star?"
"I guess you could," she says, and we walk through Bay Villa, the island's slightly run-down tourist trap and abandoned town.
"So what is up with Space Amazons?" I say. "You hunt men or something?"
"We don't hunt them," she says, "or hate them. Just, you know, we had...have our own place and want to save it. The Admiral says you are going to do that, you can do that, I mean, turn back time and give us another chance?"
"Yeah," I say, "we have a deal."
She falls silent again as we walk, then saying, "What do you get out of it?"
I think a moment.
"A story to tell."

Yet they have to trust you that the story won't lead to the destruction of their universe.

Remember those old Twilight Zone episodes where someone is given another chance...and their life comes out worse? If they are as savvy to classic sci-fi tropes as I suspect (and the Admiral is highly intelligent), then I have to assume they are taking this into account.
This is like having a sexy and smart Star Trek style ship crew hanging around the island - but I am also smart on my 60's sci-fi tropes so I need to weigh the risks involved as well. This whole series could turn into an episode of their TV show quick.

I remember my high school literature explaining Greek storytelling as "Man against Man" Man against God," "Man against Nature" and "Man against himself." You're touching every single aspect of those ideas. I can't wait to see where you take them, and me.

Thanks. This is just a fun, strange mix of plots and characters.
