One thing I love about this scene is the focus of the composition. It's the boat. And the sun. The source of evil, and the source of power. Spider on one side, and this triangle like focus with Sparrow trapped in the middle. The building clouds. The sun's reflection. The lens flare drawing a line right back to the setting sun. Spider's tense hands. Sparrow's unaware glance back. The gentle surf. The ominous haze.
It's intense, with a lot of energy pent up and ready to explode.
