Look who I found hanging out next to Marielle. Jewell has not been seen for close to 4 years as well, and she did some of my most iconic work (link below). She has this wonderfully expressive and flowy red hair that gives her an instantly recognizable look. She sort of reminds me how I would see a tragically iconic character out of a certain legacy sci-fi universe. I hope they just leave those stories be and don't take them away by retconning them all, but they probably will be offered up as sacrifices to the evil god of profit and recycled ownership some day.

This image took less that 30 seconds to render and my first thought was, I need to add - and then I stopped. When you get that feeling, that electric pulse that something is good and gives you that hit, stop there. I learned from one of my old watercolor teachers that you can overwork something and lose what makes it special, or that thing you had going on there that made something beautiful. It is worth stopping and under-working an image than it is over-complicating it and losing that spark of magic.

At least here I can stop, study it, and think about "what can I add without losing this?" If I were to put moons, dragons, flames, and giant purple alien palm trees in here I would instantly get distracted by those and my mind would be thinking, "why doesn't this work?" At that point I would probably add another moon or palm tree to try to cover up some of the clutter and be fighting a losing battle.
