These two have had some disastrous things said between them, but they have always worked through it. Eli is showing a lot of maturity here by not lashing out, and keeping these really toxic thoughts to herself. She will need to work them out, eventually, and that will be for the best for their relationship. But she knows she is really, really frustrated, and she is trying to be careful.

This is one of those blow-up moments that have the possibility of ruining something good. They come at us when our defenses are down and you mix that in with raw feelings and a lot can go wrong. Shade's reaction is also a bit raw, but understandable, and Eli here is taking the high road and not making things worse. This is a learning moment for her, but also one to reflect on.

And you make a good point, Eli is meeting people, people with drones, Relay in her head 24/7, other computers, and her life is completely changed. She thought that but I am sure she didn't really mean it. She is just angry she nearly died, again, because...people have trouble communicating and the worst must be assumed. That is part of the fun of this situation, in a normal comic book, we would have been told if the drone was good or bad right away. Here? No, even with hacking and good info this is real life, nobody knows, and a mess.
