Description
For those of you wondering where I am, I have been working on those magic powers of mine. I am glad I work out because it is physically draining to do this sort of work. Up till 2am day after day, working 12 hours, learning my tools and just getting wrapped up in wild side projects that will never see the light of day.So...what is this, something I bought? Nope, a skin I made. Hand painted character - across the seams with custom textures and brushes - and tweaked using a mixture store-bought shapes. This started as a project based on a product that transforms one skin into another ( www.daz3d.com/sy-skin-transforβ¦) - but that only comes with ONE set of transmaps for the various stages of transformation. So if you wanted to do another transformation from a human to a werewolf, zombie, or demon, the parts of the skin would stay the same and the effect would not be as cool the second time around. You get one shot, which...well if you like transformation stories, it kinda sucks.
So...paint my own transmaps! Takes a lot of work when you are talking about painting across the seams of a Gen8 character. There are some tools to make it easy, like Blacksmith3d, but they take a lot of playing with, learning, and experimentation. It took me nearly 36 hours of work, but I did it. I know the workflow in painting seamless characters with any texture map, how to apply full-color tattoos across seams, how to paint custom - seamless - transmap shells, and a bunch of other cool tricks. It is not much more work to paint dirt on boots and helmets and a lot of other cool tricks I needed to know to take me to the next level.
So in learning that I created this. It took me all but 15 minutes of work because I have the workflow, tools, and procedures locked in my head.
This skin did not exist until today. Which is cool.
But it is maddening work. You feel like you are going insane. You have to have end goals that capture your imagination, and you have to fight towards the goal. You don't always make it either, and sometimes what you end up with was something you never expected to know how to do, but it is cool anyways, like this. But yeah, I do feel like I am a crazy person at times perusing an arcane craft.
