Lots of details you put in here. These looks really nice (especially one on a scratchboard)

Birds birds birds birds <3
I would not have guessed the mallard duck. The way the feathers lie close to the body is very interesting, but I guess it makes sense with the way they fan out in flight.
Doves have such pretty wings.

You're making me blush! I've admired your work for many many years and the only thing that has kept me from having a huge collection is my persistent lack of money. Every time I see one of your sculptures in a shop it makes me smile . . . you have such a fantastic talent and I was so pleased when I saw that you were on DA

The differences in the feather shapes, structures, and sizes are interesting to see here. Nicely rendered, as ever. I particularly like the painstaking detail in the dove's wing.

*carefully looks at the order of layers on the feathers*
Why... that IS the underside!
Sometimes, I wanna just shake my fist at some artists who draw their bird's wings upside-down. One time, I commented to a professional artist, one whom I looked up to, something like. "Hay! Your wings are backwards!". And when she asked me to show her how to draw them wings... I think I shy-ed away, Star-struck shyness. I thought, she's too famous for me to consider telling her how to draw. I wonder if I should still tell her?

Awww.. you shouldn't have shy-ed away! You noticed something important and seems like that person didn't offended you, actually wanted to know what was on your mind!! Popular/not popular, we are all people and we make mistakes.. I believe everyone sometimes needs a little poke and advice But if person acts rudely on your help, then whatever! Let him/her be! :/

Notice that the chicken wing I drew here has the first few primary feathers reversed!I was surprised to see that, but that is how the wing was,so I drew it.
I think they just got messed up somehow.
I am always surprised by the way real bird's wing feathers go, even when I think I got the basic concept. There is always something I didn't know.
I have been looking hard at my macaw's primary wing feathers, they are way more complex than I first thought! They have so many different compound curves going on...it is amazing. I need to draw one of his wing feathers.

My chickens are always having misalignment in their primary feathers. I think it's not as important to them because they don't rely on flight as much? Plus, they are chickens and have other agendas.
