Not to my knowledge... although I've never actually looked... I don't really know those games besides the fact that they're the predecessors to Persona

oh? i though more its Personas more..uh..well one if its sister/brothers. webserrching suggests "shin megami tensei:...if" is its ancestor.

persona is just one of the titles under the SMT umbrella. a more light hearted one. I mean your teammates have their own personas/head summons, your guy (in 3 and 4..and beyond?) shuffle through cards

smt, has your MC and supporting characters in apost apocalyptic word filled with demons and possible reasons to affiliation with law,chaos or neutral. You get your team mates by negotiation and sweettalking demons.

devil summoner is a detective rpg with your guy who summons demons...erh and sweettalks them.
or so i assume?

i'm not sure about the others, just that in digital devil saga, your characters -turn- into their demon form (always set) but you can unequpit skills you learn so it makes the game easier.(but i swear being hit by a weakness makes you loose a turn)
but that game has a terrible encounter rate. i didn't touch it for a while but if you look it up there is no shortage of people complaining

Hmm... well, it was just something I vaguely heard...

it was along the lines of 'SMT's demon pacts was the predecessor to the play of personae obtained via cards'... if I remember right...

and yeah, he voices the silent protagonist

Well, for being silent, the protagonist actually does 'speak' several times, if only in battle. That is, if you can count growls, grunts, calling the names of Personae and such speech
