Description This is a post-processed real-time Blender render of a model I created for the free open-source game UFO: Alien Invasion ( [link] ), which is approximately halfway complete (but playable), and is influenced heavily by the X-COM series. I am not one of the creators, I am just helping out because I really want to see it done so I can play it through! It is a little less obsessive (which is good) than X-COM II, and leaves you feeling good instead of feeling bad and needing MORE...I obsessed over X-COM II for months during high school.

This action shot was posed for the "UFOPEDIA" in the game. It is a real-time render edited in GIMP to include a background, remove aliasing from some edges, and add the laser beam and some shading. I think it will look good against the background of the game too--the pattern draws some influence from the US military's new urban camoflage, which I found on wikipedia while searching for camoflage.

Here is the in-game description that I made for the UFOPEDIA:
Phoenix
Using Ion technology, Phalanx has advanced UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle) technology to create this mobile, hovering, autonomous weapon. The Phoenix UGV can achieve strategic manuevers such as floating at any point in mid-air, scouting/attacking through second-story windows, and landing on rooftops.

Cool, but if you are showing realtime graphics, rather than GIMP it up, maybe you should show some gamplay graphics, with the laser coming out as it would in the game. It the development that far ahead yet?

They just recently committed the model to SVN, and they are still working on the pathing for a 2x2-square vehicle--but they said that if they can't do it quickly they would use normal 1x1 pathing for now, so the next release should have the vehicle (you'll have to acquire and research advanced alien tech to build it though).
