Description
On a biology field trip to dalefort field study centre, I spotted this blue rayed limpet on possibly the most exposed place on castle beach. Which is odd because usually these kinda soft shelled limpets prefer the shelter of sea weed on more sheltered shores. But nope, this one decided to snuggle with the barnacles on a rock.

That's really pretty colour amongst the grey barnacles - well spotted!
I don't trust them barnacles, they look like little eyes waiting to open...

Thanks I wasn't sure if they were when I first saw it but apparently they aren't and they're just there to confuse predators (the shell is actually v.soft so it's pretty vulnerable).

I'm surprised it lived long enough to get to this size, just the seagulls alone would scarf this thing in a flash.

Very nice.. very wierd, I have lived near the water for many years throughout my life and have always been close to barnacles.. but for some reason this shot of them sorta grossed me out a lil ..

Not a very smart limpet.
Beautiful shot though! I love how you got the colours of the limpet perfectly. Also, great composition.
