Description OKay this is the best i could do...i know its long and its confusing but this is the best way i know how to explain it

heres what it should look like if you did it right

i know theres a million other ways to do this, but this is how i went about explaining it....so i wont be replying to comments saying " well you can do this or this or this or this" i know how to work GIMP so if your commenting for the benefit of others than thats fine...but i wont reply to those comments

ask as many questions as you want and ill do everything in my power to help!! i know this isnt the greatest tutorial but its the best i could come up with

dont ask me about making eyes blink or how i make my anime icons, i wont tell you.

GIMP works with stacking layers on top of each other...sooo to make it blink, stack different eye layers on top of each other, one open, one closed, one half open and back to full open

thats all im gonna tell you.

experiment with GIMP or any other animation program. thats what i did. so if i can figure it out, so can you!
and by messing with the program, youll find new things and youll get to know it even better!! so yeah

hope this helps a little bit

thank you so much for this!!!

i have a kinda weird question i'm not sure if you would know the answer to but is there a way to make the animation visible on stash?
like here;Β sta.sh/21znca1ryvsb?edit=1
you can't see the animation there, but i've seen other gifs work in stashes? like here; sta.sh/27og33f4t4?edit=1

Β idk if that made sense at all i'm sorryΒ

Hmm...

I have GIMP, but whenever I upload my file, it's apparently too small...It happened with my icon...I had to enlarge it with MS Paint...

That Β might just mean the actual file youre uploading is just a small file. Β im not really sure D: Β i dont really know that much about gimp honestly haha

the gif isnt working for me... i tried doing it but it only piled layers onto eachother

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RevPixy In reply to nikbotx [2013-11-22 19:21:36 +0000 UTC]

you have to be sure to change the "frame disposal where unspecified" from "i dont care" to "one frame per layer (replace)" Β it explains it better with a picture on the second to last white box of this tutorial :]]

nikbotx In reply to RevPixy [2013-11-22 21:33:47 +0000 UTC]

or export every image/layer as png then find a website that makes it into a gif for u XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RevPixy In reply to nikbotx [2013-11-22 21:52:43 +0000 UTC]

haha yeah would could do that too. Β only some of the websites done support transparency. Β and the box im talking about comes up when you go to export the image. Β i feel like a website would be more of a hassle XD

hazelt1995 [2012-11-23 06:43:15 +0000 UTC]

eh, i'm slightly confused by this (i use PS, not Gimp), just wanted to ask, does the object move up 2 pixels in total, and move down 1 pixel in total from the original position? Does my question make sense? X) Sort of like: original >up 1 px >up 1 px > original > down 1 px
Is that how the animation goes?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RevPixy In reply to hazelt1995 [2012-11-23 12:46:39 +0000 UTC]

i think i get what youre saying. are you wondering if the original frame ever moves downs? if thats youre question than no it doesnt. the first frame is the lowest the animation should go. it should go
original >up 1 px >up 1 pix> up 1 px >up 1 pix > down 1 px> down 1 px> down 1>px with 8 frames total DX i hope i understood youre question okay!!! and i hope this sorta helps!! >_< sorry im so bad at explaining things

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

hazelt1995 In reply to RevPixy [2012-11-23 13:52:57 +0000 UTC]

ahh i think i get what you mean, so the entire pixel actually only moves one pixel up, then back down for the next few frames, am i right? (:

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RevPixy In reply to hazelt1995 [2012-11-23 17:02:35 +0000 UTC]

yeah pretty much :] you just gotta make sure that everytime you move it, youre using a copy of the layer before it. >_< if that makes sense
