I make copies of art that I am trying to work on too, and he told you a little better than I did on how to do it, I am still learning shades and highliights myself anyways, told you on IM that you did a great job on it

ah, this i can help you with, and don't take anything too hard, cause i really like this, you've gotton better, and what was that you were saying about not being good at colouring?

well heres what you can do, pin point a location where the light is coming from, and then from there think of every where the shadows would fall in real life, and then if your doing with normal coloured pencils then. suppose you're using red for the shirt , then for the shadows, you might use Red-orange on top of red. argh it's pretty hard to tell thru text, how about this, when i get my tablet back (arg some stupid dolt broke it , and this time it wasn't me ) i could make you a tutorial on highlights and shadows ^^ if you'd like of course ^^

anyways good job! and Keep it up!

actually i colored it on fireworks4, so i think i'm gonna have to experiment with layers to get it right, i'm not real sure how to use them, but i am willing to try. the coloring you see there, as i said done in fw4, was easy with textures and different types of fills. i love how it turned out, just not sure, as i said about highlights and shadows. i know the concept of a point of light, etc, that i don't have a problem with since i did have art class til 11th grade, i just don't want ot jump into anything on the computer and totally wreck something or think i did great just to find out it sucks. so...if you have any info on layers, etc. i'd appreciate it, altho it hink after the girls go to bed tonight i will be asking fw4's help files about it.

oh, well in that case, i can tell you all about it, first, for highlights you want a layer with the "screen" mode, and you use your brush and make higlights where you think you'll need them
and for the shades same thing only with multiply or darken
btw if you don't want to risk messing up ur drawing, you should make copies of it, and use as back up, i do that all the time ^^ hope this helped

but if you want i can still make you a tutorial, since i'm still gonnna have to colour some stuff over the weekend (takingi in consideration that i get my tablet back)
if i do, i can make you a tutorial ^^

I like it. Unfortunately I have no idea on how to do shadings as I am even worse at colouring than you are. I think that the colours give a lot more to the picture. It feels much more life-like than the original IMO.
