A Ninja-Cowboy created by request for my stepson. A Texas lawman of Asian heritage, forced to defend his family's ancient honor.

The year 1870, the Meiji Restoration had opened Japan up to Western influences, and young Nishimura Aiko left to visit North America. Life was not hospitable, and his travelling party was attacked, some left for dead, and his belongings stolen. Prejudices were strong, including his own, as he found himself lumped in with the Chinese immigrants working slave wages to continue building railroads. A proud man, Aiko grew tired of the treatment, and also found some of his belongings in the possession of the railroad baron and his henchmen. Hearing tales of great Western lawmen, he fashioned the identity of Ronin Ranger to exact revenge upon those who dishonored him, bring justice to those he had grown to befriend, and retrieve his rightful belongings. This is the Ronin Ranger that met and first worked alongside the Empyrean Command as they travelled through time. His final fate is unknown, but what is known is that he settled in and raised a family...

The modern Ronin Ranger is Masato "Mac" Nishimura, a respected "Letter of the Law" Texas Ranger. He knew nothing of his ancestor's exploits until finding the preserved outfit of the Ronin Ranger whilst unpacking some family heirlooms shipped to him from California. He received a vision, describing how a local politician (descended from the railroad baron) felt that he owned him, having used him to organise police against minorities, dig up dirt on his rivals, and distract from his wrongdoing. Masato investigated and was stunned to find it was true. He reforged some of the classic weaponry, and set out to stop the corruption and defend the innocent from both sides of the law...

Reports that Ronin Ranger had been seen during the time of the Japanese internment camps of WWII has never been confirmed.
