Description
When the end came and the curtains began to fall, Rarity lamented only one thing - that her beauty would not last the ages. When the voice spoke to her, offered her a waystay as she was now - the unicorn accepted. After all, she only needed to relinquish her name and her fate - and she would be beautiful until the end of time. And so she will as her Deathlord's servant: Needle in her Jealous Cracked Reflection. The Moonshadow Caste embodies ill omen. The Children of Dust deftly snarl the designs of heaven as they defile the world with lies and discord.
Death comes to all things in time. If a single city needs to be spared the enlightenment of Oblivion for a hundred others to feel death's cold embrace, so be it. The Hollow Darkness is patient.

None of this makes sense to me in the slightest. Good art though.
Gonna have to look at this 'Exalted' thing...

That IS elaborate. I like how they use a bunch of tropes to help describe it all as well :V, entertaining reading all the descriptions. I wonder how the names come up though? They seem to 'suit' the soul to a degree, but some are majorly outlandish.

Considering the setting, actually...I have to wonder about the actual characters in that given situation. Deathknights are world killers, they have no other goal in life beyond destruction of entire civilisations in order to appease their lords.
So after obliterating a few cities, what would they be thinking? I guess this is a question of if a Deathknight can actually question the world around it, and think for itself, beyond "What's the best way to murder this poor sap, this entire family, and his whole neighborhood with only a paper clip and a rock?"

According to the sourcebook, they can - as an integral part of any Exaltation is free will. Of course, they're reined in by other methods like the Monstrances (Those lovely skeletal cages that hold a direct link to the corrupted exaltation, and with which the deathlord can rip said exaltation out of the puny mortal shell holding it, and make a new Abyssal with it if the current one doesn't please said deathlord).

Wow, I am so late on this one it's not even funny.
It's worth noting that the above is /mostly/ a fiction conjured up by the Deathlords to keep their deathknights in line. It's true that the Monstrance of Celestial Portion can act as an arcane link to the deathknight for the use of sorcery, necromancy and other such effects, but it isn't as simple as the Deathlord just ripping the Exaltation out of the misbehaving Abyssal through the Monstrance. Nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate the Exalted from their Exaltation except death.

So I guess they'd be questioning their actions constantly, but carrying on anyway in a sense of self-preservation?
I'd rather die, honestly. Sure, unending life and the ability to carve up mountains is cool and all, but taking the orders of a homicidal undead God that could kill me at any second is more than enough of a con to push me away :V.

Depends on what ends up happening to me when I die. I'll probably weigh the pros and cons.
I may actually take up the undeath thing in order to try some strange methods of killing. Throwing mountains at cities, see if I can kick a skyscraper into the stratosphere, things like that.
Undeath sounds like a lot of fun in Exalted, actually.

I'd imagine after they come to their senses and realize THEY'RE PLOTTING TO KILL EVERYONE AND FEED THE CORPSE OF THE WORLD TO THE VOID.
Not soon enough to the point where Rarity doesn't feel a pang of nausea and shame every time she looks in the mirror. And she didn't choose the path of death that mortals fear.

There might be a way to reverse the Abyssal curse. Because Exalted are symbiotic beings, the spark of light exaltation was corrupted in the Abyssal case. Light flipped for dark, and the exalted core/"spark" altered so that the negative side is more upfront. In theory, a spark could be de-corrupted. Difficult but not imposible. Mabye via the Elements of Harmony. After all, even if they are Deathknights, they might still have the traits that made them the weilders in the first place. Of course they would probably get Resonance during the process, going counter to the Deathknight or whatever being that corupted them.

Derp. It was the Ink Monkeys Ultimate Collection that I was thinking of, not the errata. Basically, it opened up the possibility for Abyssals to exist that the Deathlords don't know about, and don't command. All the Abyssal knows is that they agreed to become a champion of death, gave up their old name, and that the living world rejects them. They don't have any grand plots to kill the world, and likely have never even heard of the Void. (Unless that is what they decide it means to be champion of death, of course. They could just as easily decide that they want to protect Shadowlands or the Underworld from forces that are arrayed against them, of which there are no small number, and might include the Deathlords depending on point of view.)

Depends on the Yozi.
The Ebon Dragon just screams for a bit and then compliments you, She Who Lives In Her Name raises her voice slightly, and Malfeas...exists.
With Cecelyne, I'd imagine it sound like a Latin chorus of angels singing about plagues and famine in the middle of a sandstorm made of proclamations and decrees.

Since Applejack (or perhaps Fruit of Ghostly Labors' End?) is obviously going to be the Dusk, how about this for Pinkie?
She couldn't save them. She was blind, she was selfish, and she couldn't save them. More than that, she didn't try-she just thought they needed a party, she didn't realize how twisted the march of the Deathlords on Equestria had made them.
But, as Pinkie Pie sat in what was left of Sugarcube Corner, watching the now-empty crib of the Cakes, wondering what could have, would have, and should have, a sweet voice drifted from Malfeas.
I know your pain Pinkie. How it feels to see the world in a way no one else can understand. But it wasn't your fault. It was the world's, for forcing this trial upon you. Join me, and we shall forge a new world, whose very nature prevents you from having to decide between friendship and laughter.
Her mind long lost to guilt, Pinkie agreed.
The voice laughed. I am Oramus, the Dragon Beyond the World. Now, let us walk to the Beyond, where impossible realities lay.
And one week later, the newest Malefactor of Oramus awoke from her Chrysalis.

Another /potential/ issue has come to mind... if the others are Abyssals and Pinkie is a Green Sun Princess, that means they're going to be at odds. Although the Yozis and Neverborn have a certain mutual animus, the Reclamation and Oblivion are mutually-incompatible goals.
Granted Pinkie has the option of just ignoring that as a GSP, (almost typed GPS) but eventually she's going to wind up with some - okay, probably lots - of Torment.

Leiliel1 In reply to DaWrecka [2012-05-03 02:13:28 +0000 UTC]
Well, that's why I said Oramus.
Both he and the Ebon Dragon are linked enough to the Neverborn to have access to Necromancy, and Pinkie is just too darn nice to not do a complete 180 degree spin upon realizing what the Dragon is. Oramus could probably convince her that Oblivion dissolving everything wouldn't kill him, since he is different from "everything" as a function of who he is, allowing him to build a perfect world in Creation-Equestria's place.
Also, I accidentally didn't mark what the sound of a Yozi speaking Angrish sounds like as a response. See below this particular string for my response.

Problem; She can't be a Malefactor if her patron is Oramus. She could be an akuma of Oramus sure, or she could be a Malefactor with Oramus favoured, but she can't just be a straight-up Malefactor with Oramus as a patron. Malefactors are all Cecelynian.
Not unless the game in question had different core Reclamation Yozis, at least, in which case Malefactors would have an entirely-different charmset. (has anyone ever actually written up an Oramus charmset?)

Yeah, that's what I met. Malefactor, Oramus favored. Sorry, I like to say [Caste] of [Favored Yozi].
I also read that if a demon not of your Patron's caste comes to you, that demon's progenitor becomes your Favored Yozi. Hence why Oramus is tempting her (and because Cecelyne didn't want to deal with her personality. Can you imagine the Queen of All Corrupt Beauacracy attempting to deal with Pinkie?).

The long version: [link]
The short version:
If the Solar Exalted are the Lawbringers, the Chosen of the Sun who are infused with the immortal power of reborn heroes from dawn of time, given the power, authority and responsibility to rule and protect all of Creation -
Then the Abyssal are their dark reflections. They are picked by the unknowable will of cthonic, dead titans known as the Neverborn and infused with the corrupted Essence of a twisted and broken Solar Exaltation. Once they have been brought to the Underworld and torturously trained by the Neverborn's spectral vassals: the Deathlords - then the Abyssals are anointed as Deathknights, given the task to end the world.
That's about as brief as I could make it.

abyssal exalted / death knights are a type of Exalted from a Pen and Paper RPG called Exalted the abyssals in particular are one of the "evil" categories of exalted who are "chosen" to bring forth the end of all existence... they don't all necissarily WANT to destroy the world but they don't have a choice once they accept the dark power they are offered when they get chosen by a Deathlord their very existance poisons the world around them even if they don't use their dark powers...
