Description I was driving through Lancaster, PA last weekend and saw many Amish people dressed in black riding their bicycles. I took photos of them out the window of the car, as it would have been extremely rude to stop and ogle them. Anyway, I like how their dress makes it feel like this photo is from a long time ago. I wish I had my film camera with me, because the feeling would have been even stronger.

Not sure if anyone said this, but I am pretty sure they are not Amish. I am pretty sure they are Mormon. They often ride bikes in suites.

Great shot, though.

I don't know--there's something very Brooks Brothers about this picture, and the fact that it looks like men in suits riding bikes almost makes me think of businessmen trying to conserve gas. But that's just my opinion.

Fantastic! You should mask it with a vintage texture to make it even more better. But still, I love it! I visited an Amish village before I went to Hershey Park in August 2006. I really want to go there again!

Anyway, congratulations with the DD!!

Wow, interesting group. Ah Amish. We have a lot of Amish people around where I live too. They don't wear any hats like that in our area though.

One thing that bothers me about digital is that at close range, the effects of distortion that seems agreeable with analog film are completely missing. The flatness becomes more pronounced and isn't necessarily pleasing, as is the texture of the "digital" grain.

Are you sure they were Amish? I'm only asking because I've lived in Lancaster, PA all of my life and have never seen any of the Amish wear suits - and their hair cuts for boys are longer than those in the pictures. Perhaps they're Mennonite?

"Smoketown School Rd" up in the righthand corner. Going to a wedding perhaps? I live near a large Amish community...respect the lifestyle, much different than mine. It being Sunday today, drove by a church and there must have been 75 horse-drawn buggies in the field.

Great shot, but I don't think they're Amish. I grew up around them and they don't wear fedoras. Plus, these guys don't have beards.

Very nice shot! Maybe it's just me, but it brings to mind very strongly something like a scene right out of A Hard Day's Night. Or just any lighthearted film from around that time. Ogling is fine, as long as you don't drool, I should think? Hee.
