It wasn't addressed, all we really know about him is that he's a celestial being and he was the GM of what was essentially a cosmic game of DnD in the comic he was in, which was authored by this same artist.

Well, yeah, of course he messed with Dragon and Pete, they were acting like selfish brats and bringing unnecessary drama into the game that was supposed to be for fun, not aggressive or life-ruining for either them or mortals.Β He simply recognized the consequences of their petty squabble and came up with a plan that benefited both parties while keeping his players in the darkΒ like any good GM would do.Β AndΒ let's face it, even if he was helping the mortals, he still messed with them every single chance he got.
