Also, I have no idea why I decided to have my first hanar plush narrate this. Welcome to me thinking I'm funny when I'm not. Lol. ._.
( *I did not make the tutorial for the ladder stitch. I found it some time ago and can't remember who originally did it. ;_; )

In theory, I would say that this pattern should expand well enough to make a jumbo hanar.
To your next question, I only do 100% hand sewing on small plush like this one and my "beans." Because of the size I made it, it was far easier to sew the entire plush by hand to get the small details to pop (like the head crest, "tail" and tentacles). But if you were to do a large one, I'd definitely suggest machine sewing. The bags ([link] ) in my gallery (minus the N7 one) were done with a sewing machine.
