Page 2 is a go!
EDIT: I fixed up these old audition pages a little - got rid of that hideous all-black background. I'm going to work on neatening up a few things so stuff looks a little better, since I plan on making this a complete project.

Panel Comments:
Panel 1: I actually said that once. ^^ Randomly-spawned exclamations are the BEST.
Panel 4: The plushie bird makes its first official appearance! (Well, if you don't count the very last panel of Page 1.) It's being quite sneaky, though.
Pane. 6: I really love the expression in this panel. It came out just right.
Panel 7: I don't know about you, but if MY laptop started making smart-aleck replies to my questions, I would consider this rather eerie.
Panel 8: It's amazing how I'm still able to breathe despite clearly being several thousand feet off the ground. Of course, it's also amazing that that cloud can hold my weight. You gotta love these interspacial creativity-driven dimensions! ^^
Panel 9: I love how this comic is making me practice perspective! This is excellent practice, even if it should not end up getting accepted into AatR. And lo, we see at last my rather mundane summoning tools! I actually own that notepad, although in the comic, you can't see all of the colorful scribbles on the inside, courtesy of my niece.
Panel 14: LOVE THIS PANEL. SO MUCH.
Panel 15: Another panel where I loved how the expression came out! ^^ Hope I managed to portray the slow head-turn properly.
Panel 16: Hey, look! A character! I think I should win an award for Highest Altitude to Summon a Character in The Real.
Panel 17: Several points of note in this panel:
1) That is actually a real dish; I had it at Piccolo's right around when I wrote the original comic script. Guess where the inspiration came from? It was really interesting, and the cheese sauce was to DIE for!
2) RFWGirl and all of her cohorts from the Random Insanity Dimension call me The Author. Always. They are also all aware that they are fictional and that I created them. Don't expect the others I'll be summoning to have this easy of a transition.
3) If you're wondering about the flying frog and the beanie cap from last page, it's sort of a running joke. Keep your eyes open in the pages to come.

Phew! This page was MUCH harder to construct than the last one, because I drew the panels kind of funny. The first three took up most of a page, and then I drew two of the panels on the next page at different angles to better utilize the paper. And the last panel was on a page all its own; in fact it didn't even have proper borderlines drawn in, and I actually drew RFWGirl twice, choosing this version for the final because it better shows off how excited she is. I love Random Food Word Girl. ^^ But anyhoo, I'm very happy with how it came out in the end, and I edited Page 1 a little to match this newer, I think nicer-looking format.

One more page to go! And several ref sheets! @.@ I still have so much to do; there are at least 12 more panels for Page 3, and I've barely even started my third character's ref sheet because he's being oddly difficult to draw. But I shall prevail! *waves flag of victory*

Hope you enjoyed! Oh yes, and please right 'Giraffes are awesome' in your comment if you read all of that.

Loving the flying plushie. I kinda want one now.

And I love the "Nope" reply you get on your computer. XD

They ARE pretty cool, but I can't take credit for them. Fox (one of the AATR judges) created them to assist her and pass out messages and stuff, so I just had some fun inserting one. ^^

XD Thank you! I'm glad that got a laugh; I would have to consider it a failure if I didn't manage to insert at least SOME humor!

Looks like you are having just as much fun entering the Real as I am, lol. I would throw that laptop off the cloud and see if it can catch up to that book you dropped. Just saying.

Looks great and can't wait to read more! Why do I have a feeling that RFWGirl is going to be one of my favorite human characters in this entire tournament?

and Giraffes are awesome

Indeed! Sure am glad to be FINALLY done with all the drawing, though! And not a moment too soon; I stillhave to color and organize my ref sheets. Page 3 should be up tonight.
And are you KIDDING?! That book cost, like, $2, whereas the laptop cost $250. That is not the kind of experiment I want to make! XD

I'm sure I don't know but I am ferociously flattered now ^^

Indeed! And you are awesome for saying so.

Lol, okay, maybe no throwing the laptop then. But I am a bit of a paranoid conspiracy-theorist, so any supposedly inanimate object talking to me will likely be destroyed.

And I'm hoping to have up page 3 of my audition sometime tonight or tomorrow. still needs finish inking a few panels and coloring the whole thing =\

XD I quite understand. If the laptop had been TOO much spookier, it might very well have gotten tossed.

Btw, did you get in?

Happy-Furret In reply to Riverfox237 [2011-07-04 00:56:13 +0000 UTC]

nope. I didn't really expect to, after seeing all of the other entries. Ah, well. I guess there's always next time, seeing as how there was plenty of interest this time.

Yeah, I was kinda iffy on if I'd get in, either. It's true! We'll just have to keep looking into other ones and practicing so our entries are even better for the next one. ^^

Man, I'd be wanting to get rid of my laptop if it kept doing that to me... xD
And lucky you! Getting to pick your summoning item and characters! >.<;;; -shot-
I'm carrying around a nice bulky instrument if I get in 8D;
And my characters don't get on well...

I would never dream of tossing my beloved laptop mini off a cloud. The thing cost me $250 and is the only computer I have that doesn't have to be plugged in 24/7! It's hard for something to be annoying enough to overcome thoes plusses.

Whatcha mean? You didn't? Well NOW I need to go reread your entry, obviously I missed something...

Mine get on okay, although the guys will definitely be having some spats. But one of them is an emo-ish grouch, so it's mostly his fault. And Random Food Word Girl gets along with EVERYONE (except for bad guys).

RinnyWinnyWooWah In reply to Riverfox237 [2011-05-24 06:12:06 +0000 UTC]

It was more that's just what I had with me... And as I had nothing else but my clothes that's what my summoning item had to be xD
I'm surprised I don't have an emoish character with me... I think I have a fair few of those. I guess they all have a bit of a sob story though.

Riverfox237 In reply to RinnyWinnyWooWah [2011-06-17 22:57:10 +0000 UTC]

XD Hey, it works! I'm really interested to see who gets in. One of my characters might ALMOST be considered emo, buuut probably not. He's more angry than emo, and he'd probably punch anyone who called him that. After he found out what it meant, of course. XD

RinnyWinnyWooWah In reply to Riverfox237 [2011-06-18 08:49:59 +0000 UTC]

Haha. I have a character a little bit like that xD
... But I think he's gonna fade somewhere into the background storywise for me =/

Aw, I hope not! Hopefully you'll get to display all of your characters, but I suppose it remains to be seen for all of us. You never know who you're gonna be up against, after all!

Okay, so does she simply shout random foods? Is that why she's Random Food Word Girl?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Riverfox237 In reply to Razor23119 [2011-05-23 00:42:03 +0000 UTC]

Essentially. She also has Limited Flight Abilities, and her randomly-shouted food words actually create confusion. Like, literally. It's her main 'weapon', although she tends to do it by accident all of the time. It will make more sense (hopefully) when I get her ref sheet up.

Btw, if you are on right now, come to the UPD chatroom. I'm inviting Doodlee and Wings, I think they're on as well. If you want to, of course. ^^

Yeah, sorry about that. I waited around for about fifteen minutes, but then Wings poppped in and said she couldn't stay and Doodlee apparantly can't access Chat right now. >.< Sorry I bailed on you. I promise I am GOING to organize a big chat get-together someday soon! It's just so hard to get people organized!

Oh yes, when I was the Confuzzler! Ahhhh, good times. Good times. That was the best skit ever. XD I just wish someone wrote down June's Trouble Clef rap!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jelani921 In reply to Riverfox237 [2011-05-23 01:54:51 +0000 UTC]

That's right....you were originally RFWGirl but it was too confusing for the already confusing script we had.

I know! that rap was full of awesome. I don't remember it either though. sad day I wonder if anyone kept a copy of our script? Maybe Jovane, since he was the director. Or Samantha. Or....someone.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Riverfox237 In reply to Jelani921 [2011-06-17 22:42:13 +0000 UTC]

Oh right! That was embarrassing. But I'm glad we were able to come up with a good alternative that let me keep the basic idea. I ended up being the Confuzzler.

I have a copy of the script, just not of the rap. I don't think anyone ever wrote it down besides June, since it was just her line. Ah well. We could always bug June and ask, but I wouldn't be surprised if she burned it afterwards. XD

Jelani921 In reply to Riverfox237 [2011-06-18 01:07:33 +0000 UTC]

That wouldn't surprise me at all knowing June. Remember when we went to walmart in our costumes at like 2AM during hell week? hehehe good times. Do you think you could send me a copy of the script if I message you my email address?

Oh, yay! I'm glad it's changing for the better. ^^ I think I know what you mean, although it's subtle enough to me that I don't notice it as easily. I think I'm definitely getting better at anatomy and perspective.

Ya, it's one of those things where it's probably more noticeable to the observer than to the artist.
And yus, I agree ^^

Yup, definitely. I've recently been looking at my last sketchbook, and ALREADY I am beginning to think some of the drawings aren't so awesome anymore. Which is kind of disheartening, really.

GhostLiger In reply to Riverfox237 [2011-06-19 19:12:57 +0000 UTC]

Well don't think of it as old pictures not looking as good as you remember, think of it as your art skills improving ^^ That's what I think of when I look at old stuff.

Also, that's something else I notice. As your skills inprove so does your eye for what art looks good.
