Lovely render! Β Its armor has to be the toughest ever seen in Star Trek. Β But why not shoot in the maw? Β With Decker's fondness for repeated full phaser strikes, it might of had an effect!

Well maybe they didn't want to shoot the maw because the maw shoots back!?

It is, Neutronium is incredibly tough, just to crack the hull it require two Borg Cubes focusing their fire on one spot.

Yes, indeed. In Star Trek: Vendetta, Picard's crew came across a larger, more powerful version of it. It was a good novel.

I think I made a similar comment on another TOS post somewhere. It allows the series to shine a little more because it has the effects that were intended but the technology wasn't around to create them. Whilst the sets look shaky and the props/makeup is still dodgy, you can forgive a lot of that to the time it was made. But at least with realistic looking ship soaring above the planet in between scenes instead of a grainy blob and a shaky model you can transport yourself into the Star Trek world a little easier

Very nice picture. When you think about it, that was the biggest mistake the planet killer made. Soon Scotty would rig the engines on the damaged ship and Kirk would ram her down the planet killer's throat, giving it the worst case of heartburn in the galaxy!

there is an mission on star trek online in which you have to use a Klingon bird of pry to destroy the Resurrected planet killer......and its a bitch cause it decimates the fleet trying to distract it in 5 mins and then you have to shoot it....down its throat.....when its about to fire its anti-proton beam.....i

Amazing work! The Doomsday Machine is one of my favorite TOS episodes too, and I like the remastered version, but they could have done a lot more with the effects, I thought. Your version looks great, excellent job!
