I'm not sure that there's full blown combat described in that era, but Niven delivers enough examples of the tech's capability to extrapolate it.

Sorta. "Distracted" is probably more accurate.

I did my homework, but missed the due date by 30 years
Glad ya like. I really needed to finally get this one outta my system.

Was this for a game or, or was this just something that you brewed up yourself? Β

Just for me - something I needed to get outta my system. Though I guess you COULD think of it as supplemental "Ringworld RPG" art

Ah, you're the guy who did a of the DGP art way back in the day for Traveller. Β I'm a fan
Very cool stuff.

Quick note here; you're the reason there's a lot of hoopla about trying to get access to that old material published by DGP. Β Ayup, good times back in the day

RobCaswell In reply to Blue-Jedi [2013-09-03 18:06:20 +0000 UTC]
I'm the reason? You mean because of my art? I kinda hope not because DGP's quality came AT LEAST as much from Gary and Joe's inspired, tireless writing.

Blue-Jedi In reply to RobCaswell [2013-09-03 18:24:52 +0000 UTC]
Well, it's the whole package I guess. Β The sleek design that you offered (I like both the Gauss rifle and the autoshotgun you did for equipment charts) combined with some nifty rules
I think a lot of former players are still very much in love with the DGP material because of the look you gave it.

Have you read the book? How does it compare to your mental vision?

I haven't read the book, but it looks stoic and functional.

I'm not sure if Ringworld will be a true generation-spanning classic, but for our age group it was an SF-must-read! (at LEAST once!)

Niven was actually VERY specific about that detail in the book. He spelled out the whole spec.

Hmmm. I'm confused. Is that an MONSTROUS human? A DIMMINUATIVE human? There's no way to tell. How can I properly evaluate a work without sufficient information?

I-Am-Madbat In reply to AbaKon [2013-07-02 20:58:33 +0000 UTC]
That's an average human and an average Kzin, presented for scale with the lander. Way back in the stone age it was quite common to present figures for scale in technical drawings.
