Description
More tech porn - Eagle centerfold! I think it's time for me to put this toy aside and play with other things for a while. But there are a few stylistic things I wanted to try here just to get it outta my system.James Murphy's cooltastic Eagle model - WAY better than that old Mattel toy

Don't know why, but this reminds me of the Batmobile. I'm probably just biased... Love it!

For an older design, the Eagle sure holds onto its charm well!

Man I loved this show, and this is an amazing rendition of the old Eagle. I had the same toy too!

I had the old MPC model kit, but it kinda rotted. I was old enough to be picky about accurate detail and it fell short for me. It really wasn't until a few years ago, with the Product Enterprises 1999 that I FINALLY got the Eagle I'd wanted all these years. And of course finding this CG model is just icing on the cake

Well to honest all your Eagle pieces are pretty damn special. This one leapt out due to it's composition, lighting and colours.
I'm a sucker for a colour in a render - the delicate blue highlights coupled with the orange glow really works well for me. I like the way the orange grabs my attention to the front of the Eagle which in turn allows my eye to be drawn up and into light source and then across to the moon. Perfect

I know we've talked color approaches before and seem to be on the same wavelength regarding our visual goals. I think Blue/Purple and Orange are the easy color sweet spots. It almost never fails. I have to push myself to try and use other color combos

Sweeeeeeeet!!!! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!!! Just like your Star Trek expansions of the TOS universe, I really love what you are doing with Space 1999and 2001:A Space Odyssey! Fun stuff! I do understand about keeping variety in your art. Just thanks for sharing all your wonderful creativity!
Do you think you might create more with say.. Gerry Anderson's UFO series or Thunderbirds? It'd be interesting to see what you came up with for those.

RobCaswell In reply to dinobatfan [2011-02-23 16:04:10 +0000 UTC]
Well I have no idea what concepts will grab me next, but I'm sure I'll be doing more UFO at some point. It's possibly my favorite Anderson creation.
And thanks so much for the kind words on my body of work! It's REALLY gratifying to hear things like this.

No worries. I just thought that the UFO material you've created already was really fascinating, especially when starting to blend with Space:1999 and Star Trek.
Certainly not that you need ideas. You've definitely got plenty of those already.

Great lighting! I always wanted to see the moon with the huge crater the nuclear waste had caused when it blew. They never showed it, as far as I can remember...

Thanks. I was trying to go a bit more contrasty than I usually do, but I have such a hard time letting my shadows go to total black. I guess it's because I see that effect (ineffectively) employed by many Poser and 3D newbies. That and (in theory) there's no such thing as "black".... or so color theorists state.
