here is the process we used to make the automail seen here:
it is made out of craft foam, clay, and paint. it is fairly cheap to make, and much more comfortable to wear than an automail cosplay made of metal.
this tutorial will cover the entire automail arm and leg except the shoulder. for another great tutorial which covers this part, you can go here: [link]

I wish I'd seen this when I was 12. I did a cop-out Ed cosplay because I was going to a con and didn't wanna go without being at least halfway dressed. So I dressed in black, braided my hair and I sharpied my arm with a metallic silver sharpie. XD

Can u also use a long black glove, and like if u wanna make if ur left and and not ur right (I'm a righty and it'd be for my costume for school, which then I need to wriote like for the whole day) and the glove like guides you on the hand part? (lol sorry if im confusing u)

yeah that should be fine. hmm yeah I'm planning to add onto this tutorial to cover the hand, but basically what you do is just superglue the pieces to the glove so it can slip on and off all in one piece.

This is extremely helpful! I wish I had seen this when I made my (failed) Ed cosplay/cotume for Halloween. I ended up not having any automail, so I felt lame DX
