Description
Okay,Here, we have another "Show of scale" pic.
This time, we're comparing the X-Wing fighter to the ETA-2 Actis from Ep3.
Both models here are approximately 1/48 scale so the sizes are comparable.
And, DANG, but the ships from Ep3 were small.
Star Wars isn't mine, but these models are

The X-wing boasts extra lasers, torpedo launchers and magazines, a hyperdrive and shields. Β It therefore needs larger engines to move the additional mass. Β The ETA-2 is used almost exclusively by Jedi, who had the benefit of the Force both for defense and offense, while the X-wing was mostly flown by non-Force Sensitive beings.

Well made points, but the size is still TINY for a ship that's supposedly capable of leaving a planet's atmosphere under it's own power.
Let's face it. They made the ETA-2 as a toy that was used as a ship. All story considerations aside

That is true, but the TIE/in is just as improbably small, with the reactor, thrusters, avionics, weapons, and pilot crammed into a space that's barely two meters in circumference. Β In this case the only concession made was that the pilot's flight suit is already sealed in vacuum, the life support contained in their backpack and seat. Β While we never see TIE fighters leaving the atmosphere in the movies, it's assumed that they can. Β
Star Wars, and SF in general, pull scale out of proportion all the time. Β
Given the nature of industrial secrecy it is possible that the companies making the ETA-2 and TIE are on the cutting edge, backed by an overbearing military dictatorship, while the company that makes the X-wing is trying to catch up, using outdated tech and on a shoe-string budget.

I guess ships like the x-wing are bigger than the ETA-2 is because the X-wing has an onboard hyperdrive and heavier shields.

Personally, I think they were trying more for "ships that can be made into toys"

Maybe. I would like to see a model of the Stealth-X.

Maybe, somewhere down the road.
I'd likely do an XJ first

Wow... I knew the measurements, but actually seeing the two ships compared side by side is something else entirely! Its like measuring a gnat up to a Dragonfly. You would HAVE to be a jedi to fly something that unarmored and lacking heavy weapnry into battle. Its only saving grace is it would obviously be a bit faster, and vastly more maneuverable. Personally though, Id choose the X-wing any day over it. Oh, and the models are once again Fantastic!!!!!

Have to agree with you on those points.
And thanks again for the compliments on the models

Glad you think so.
Me, I see a lot of weathering needed on both ships. But that's me.

The Actis interceptor had to be a nightmare to try and hit... That thing is tiny!

True, but I can imagine the pilot feels really small as well
