Personality: A calm and optimistic guy. He’s loyal to his friends and strives to be a trustworthy person. Though he has a mostly balanced lifestyle, he’s shown to be somewhat of a romantic at heart aswell.

Background: Roland grow up in a small village with his two older brothers and his parents. it was there he made friends with a girl named Akina Hagino who had feelings for him.

when Roland was at the market, trying finding some food for his mother, he help Akina's grandmother, by putting some boxes on top of the shelf. it was there he overheard two customers talking about how a dead body has been found, Roland wonders what causing these deaths as Miss Hagino believe that maybe it was the involvement with demons.

However Akina gives the two customers their bowls of noodles, and requesting that they stop talking. she then offer Roland to order something here, saying it on the house. after it got late Roland head back home, however after hearing Akina screaming.

he went to see what's happening, as he see that Akina is being attacked by a demon, after Roland saved her, he tried to get him and Akina away from the demon, with no success as the demon caught up with them, they were going to die, until they was saved by Demon Slayer Haruto Osamu.

Roland was amazed by Haruto's skills, and after taking Akina back to her home, he ask him if he can be his teacher, Haruto with permission from Roland's parents, accept it as he trained Roland on becoming a Demon Slayer.

After his hard training, he enters the Final Selection, at first he was confident with himself, feeling like he can do it, until hearing all the whispering and gossiping from the other examinees, before being defended by Kirari and Akio.

Roland made friends with Akio, before Kirari can talk with them the Final Selection started, as they go to their separate paths.

Roland survive the seven nights, he passed the Final Selection, Roland was hoping Akio passed, but soon relized that he didn't make it.

They all then gotten their Kasugai, however instead of getting a Crow he get a Blue Tailed Bee Eater. Roland then choose his ore for his blade.

He then returned home and was given a green armor, a reward from Haruto for passing the Final Selection, as Haruto tells Roland on how proud he is.

Roland then heads off, in his journey he encountered Kirari and a girl named Sumire, they both recognized Roland from the Final Selection, Roland then remembers Kirari's voice as she was the one who was one on the two who defended him from the examinees.

Roland then befriended both Kirari and Sumire as the two girls became his traveling Partners
