I've been going through my fantasy felines and sorting them out, getting another idea and then switching everything back, not sure about everything below still either. Probably should have used another color . . .

Garnet and Bay had Almandrine together though Garnet was unaware of her existence till she was approximately the age of a teenager. The couple rushed into the relationship based on idealized perceptions and false realizations and Bay due to her significantly different lifestyle did not fit in with that of the others and thus split after a quick fling. Garnet also had a significantly older brother (not shown-mentioned much otherwise) who had a single daughter, his cousin, that was reared along with him as his younger sister. When TBN1's own mate died he eagerly stepped up into a father-uncle figure role for his "niece and nephew".Bay is a neglectful parent seeing her daughter as a distraction or annoyance and often shoves her aside. Almandine is greatly impaired socially as a result being largely traped on a floating box and her pleas for attention accumulate in Prism and Harbor. She flees the ship shortly after they are weaned and manages to make it back to the clan which the cat she bears the name of resides. She gains an overly enthused father and a far more positive mother figure and graduly becomes more confident. TBN2 and TBN3 are introduced to her as her cousins a few months after she arrived and had some time to adjust. Bay presumes her dead and attempts to rear her grandchildren taking far more interest in their lives.Harbor adopts the alias of Colin and leaves early on seeking treasures while Prism remains on the ship for a while. Neither of the siblings recognize their mother and vise versa when their paths cross. But Bay is thrilled to hear that her daughter survived . . .

When Almandrine is the equivalent of 17 her cousins are 6 and 12, Colin and Prism would be about 1. Garnet would be about 38 while his "sister" would be 36 or so.Design Credits:
