Trigger Warnings for death, disease, and warrior-cat drama below

My Experience
I looked up from the upstairs desk where I was reading and noticed my turkeys and chickens approaching a racoon, who I first thought was our barn cat Misty. My attempts to scream at it and drive it away from the driveway failed and I ran back to the house where I tried to call my parents and then to the barn and back. Having lost 6 of my chickens to raccoons earlier and not wishing to lose anymore I proceeded without a gun.

I shoved the raccoon aside using the sides of the pitchfork hoping it was just confused. It hardly made a sound, got back to its feet, and slowly got back to its paws ambling in the new direction. Unsure of what to do, unable to reach my parents to get a gun, and realizing what it likely had and that my birds were coming closer. I panicked, and drove the pitchfork into it, aiming for the neck. It barely screamed even though it took 2 or 3 blows to kill it.

Our cats, dog, and horses are all vaccinated against rabies. It might have not been the best thing to do in hindsight, but I panicked, grabbed the longest sharp object we had, and acted. I was very careful to not to touch it and when we had a bonfire a few days later, left the pitchfork in till it glowed red.

I've tried to start a few comics over the year, one recurring one involves the fall of the traditional clans due to infighting amongst themselves furthered by the introduction of rabies. I even got 30 pages or probably 80% of one of them with badly proportioned, lined and colored with backgrounds in MS Paint. I wasn't happy with them and deleted the files. I've continued to develop on the idea and some of my cats I've used as breedables are in this mess.

If I'd ever write or illustrate it I'd like to have each chapter from the perspective of different characters in the clans from kits to elders and even those outside the clan who are but, one source of the disease and how it spreads and their attempts to keep everything together. I've even toyed with writing it in a manner similar to World War Z, enjoyed the book, the movie was just an insult to it. Please enjoy this super sketchy thing and a bit of text.

  “RiverClan, abandoned everyone first, it wasn’t their problem, after all, nothin was. When others came to their territory seekin’ herbs and shelter, they were quickly turned away.”
      “Their medicine cat wanted to leave to go help but, Mintstar refused to let him go. He went anyway and came back with the “Stargazer sickness”, it took a while for the symptoms to show, a full moon from what I recall but, Mintstar was quick to abandon camp. I was one of the few that stayed behind with him. He tried to do what he could to help others that came but, we couldn’t really do anything more, other then wait.”

    “In his last week he was would alternate between being very affectionate and angry, seemed lost continually yet he remembered the water and unlike a lot of the others that were afraid of it he would stare into it, before smashing his paws into it muttering angrily. One night he went out into the lake, pleading with StarClan.”

    “I was woken up by another cats croaks; she was pawing at the water though she was afraid to drink and her voice was hoarse. I ran right in and pulled him back to shore, not thinking, but enough water had gone into him.”

       “Me and the other that were left, abandoned camp after he passed, leaving the sick behind. We were all practically trained medicine cats at this point though could do little to save ourselves. We didn't know what state the other clans were in so we camped by ourselves for a while.”

  “One of my friends begun to fall ill. She tried to make it to the island to see her sister. . ."

"Mintstar wouldn’t let her, not that I could blame her, she was mad at everyone by then. She attacked our old leader and tore out her throat but, the younger molly got won at a cost, she got bit and . . .”

   “Mintstar had 9 lives.”
