paper is always a good subject for getting cool tones like this (not to mention, ikea lights are always so cool) you'd mentioned in one of your comments about burning out your highlights. it might help if you put something in there to difuse the light a bit (a white tshirt wrapped around the bulb, paper, something like that) and you might even try incorporating some other lights at other parts of the paper to add even more depth. just a few ideas really like the leading lines drawing you into the middle though, gives a bit of a feeling of vertigo as if you could just fall right through the hole there.

Very nice work. The exposure is good, although the top panel is a bit burnt out it is balanced by the darker tones below. I like this one.

yeah, the burnt out is kind of unavoidable, the bulb is right there.

HAHA! I was in that store the other say and this shot reminded me of a lamp I saw. But what do I read? It IS that lamp!

Anyway, nicely taken. The tone difference is quite intriguing. I also like how you captured different textures in the material even though it is the same stuff. The best part I'd say would be the directional bars that all converge yet lead their own directions away from the center. Very deep composition.

thank you, I spent about ten minutes just staring at the thing with the camera trying to find the best angle, then about four failed shots later I finally got this one with the high sharpness.

Yeah, its not uncommon for me to burn a whole roll of film and not even use any of the shots i took because i don't like how they came out. So four shots for one succes is a good ratio.

I can usually get about 10 good solid shots out of a roll, with the digital though I can usually get 1 out of four or five shots. Then when I get a couple solids it's just down to picking the favorite.

Yeah, I have my times like that. But i will take so many shot fo the same thing with different setting and different angles...so a roll doesn't last long. Thats why i should probably go digital. I'd save money because I buy so much film. haha

you could probably avoid that by learning how to look at things differently, it's just a suggestion but try this: before you take the picture look at the object, then close your eyes and think of how you would want to portray that object, you'll see the angle in your head. then move around with the camera till you see it in your viewfinder, then at least you can cut it in half. if you have an SLR you might also find the depth of feild review button helpful, a lot of people do, I tend not to use it too much cause I already know what settings will look like what with my camera by now. but if you're still getting the hang of things it's useful.

Not a bad suggestion at all. However, most of my subject are very spontaneous, so it's pretty much gotta-get-it-now kind of shots. And ya gotta love that review button. Alof of times it was too dark where i used to live. But i just moved to the desert, where the sun is plentiful. So it is coming in handy again.
