Phase Two

Bright rays of gold reached up and around them as the sun woke from its long winter slumber. The sound of hooves crunching through the deep snow echoed around them, alerting the local residents of the endurance riders' presence as they continued their arduous trek up the mountain side.
Loretta and crew were one of the end groups, trekking over an already trodden path. Tired aquamarine eyes roamed across the surrounding area, lingering on the familiar forms of her month-long companions. Silvery blonde hair caught her gaze, and she took a hot minute to assess the situation before speaking up.

"You know, if you get any closer to those horses that lead mare is gonna come at you." Lo's voice rang through the air.
-
“Huh?” Eloise responded after snapping the shot. She then realized that while she was focused in the zone, Kolyada had took the opportunity to let her curiosity from earlier today, to make a closer move instead of what Eloise thought was just her adjusting her weight. “Oh dear,” she softly remarked before putting the little camera away in the side pouch and then urged Kolyada to back away carefully so to not provoke the mare that was agitated. Once they were in the clear or good enough distance she had the mare to turn around to head to where Lo was.

“I know you find these wild horses neat as much as I do  Kolyada, but goodness my girl your going to get us into such a pickle next time you do get us too close,” she softly scolded low enough for her mare to hear  before giving their neck a little pat. Eloise then turned her focus to Lo and gave her a little embarrassed smile, “Thank you for that,” she lightly laughed at the  embarrassment of getting caught so close.

-
"Of course. It'd be a shame to bother the locals." She watched as the golden mare snorted at them before turning on the herd and pushed them further away from the caravan of riders.

"Are you thinking of importing a wild one next year?" Loretta glanced at the bay mare Eloise was riding. Her own obertaurer was bred, but much friendlier than some of the others she'd seen before. Librium flicked an ear in Kolyada's direction, blepping to her heart's content, the smaller mare had always been one to stick her tongue out at any and every ocassion.

-
“It certainly would be,” Eloise replied with soft chuckle before looking over to where the wild herd started venturing off too. Upon the question being brought up about getting the chance to import one of them next year, Eloise would return her gaze to Lo before giving a smile.

“Potentially, if I am able too,” she mused giving Kolyada a little neck scratch when she started bobbing her head up and down for a second. “It certainly would be quite a worthy challenge and opportunity to learn in a more personal way about these hardy winter horses. I haven’t dealt with semi wild horses before but, I am always willing to learn,” she added.
Kolyada noticing Librium blepping curiously looked at them before lightly stretching their head over to them in a friendly way.
-
"A worthy challenge indeed. I don't think I'd personally be able to do it myself. Påvel is already helping me with a rowdy stud back at Klockholmen. That beast is intent on embarrassing me every chance he gets. He's still young, so he's got plenty of time to keep learning and going over his manners." She laughed with a blush.
Librium stopped blepping for a moment to lean over to greet Kolyada, ears pricked forward, bright curious eyes matching the intent of the other, taller, mare.

-

“Awww, don’t sell yourself to short love~,” Eloise said with a sweet playful chuckle hearing then claim that they didn’t think they could do it. “Youngsters certainly push their luck when they can, both a few of my stallions as well young mares didn’t make it easy at times. I’m sure with both you and Påvel, and time things will get better,” she added with cheery note.
Kolyada in return of Librium’s friendly response gave their nose a light boop with their own nose before giving a little nicker.

-

"I appreciate your confidence, but I think it'll be a good while before I'm skilled enough to do more than give shots to a wild horse." She jested, though the underlying message was serious. Taking on the responsibility of another being, let alone one that had only known freedom in the wilderness was no superficial matter.
"Eventually" Loretta nodded. "Tanio is certainly a handful, but he's got extremely good jumping potential. More than my current skill level, if we're being honest. Worst case scenario, I lease him out to someone else, like Påvel or Eli for competitions."
Librium flicked her ears to listen to Loretta's voice for a moment, before returning the friendly soft noises to Kolyada.

"What's your plans for after this journey?" Inquiring eyes regarded Eloise.

-

Hearing that Eloise gave her an understanding smile. ”Well, I certainly wish you the best on there. If it comes down to leasing them, it's certainly not too bad of an option either, despite being the worst case. Can still be around him and all,” she remarked positively.

Upon hearing their following question Eloise’s little smile grew a bit. “A busy life for me, for sure,” she chuckled before continuing. “Seems I will only be warm for a little bit after this trip before heading out to the cold again with this Zlesdin event in Canada. Afterwards I’m just fully booked to do the Australian Warmblood futurities, some small events here and there, prep for the Olympics coming up, and goodness- prep my home estate to host a show jumping event,” she said with a little light playful mock sigh at the end. “Hopefully I can find some wiggle room in the schedule to enjoy a break here and there. How about you?”

-
"Ah, well since we'll be missing Christmas- I'll likely be doing a small celebration of the New Year and Christmas with Wilma afterwards. I'll also be going to the Canada event for Zlesdins. Other than that.." She paused, putting her hand to her face for a moment as she considered the possibilities.

"Well, there's the rest of winter to figure out, but come spring I'll be busy with the foaling season. I might assist with the Olympics if there's anyone important in the stables going." She shrugged. "Work, basically."

The conversation continued for a good while as their calm half-awake group followed through the snow at the standard pace.

Thank you, Tama, for the sketch of Eloise (amd RP!)
Thank you, Sil, for the correction/sketch of Aaron

Had way too much fun designing all the wild obers. One of them may be previously seen from a Journey picture..
