Hey! Just a question:
When you use photography as part of your paintings (which is awesome) you take them by yourself of they are "copright free"?
By the way I love how the shapes and colors work in. It's inspirational.

If it's stock you can use it but credit the artist.
if you have permission, you can.
if you don't have permission, (or don't know if you can) you need to change at least 60% of it where the main intention is not related to photograph.
Say
If you're using a model's face off a magazine, if you end up painting a girl that looks exactly like it and sell it, that's copyright in a way.
If its for your own studies or personal work, it's okay, but credit.
If you use the model's face off a magazine because you like the color profile and you extract and use the colors from it, I think that's okay because it doesn't replicate the main intention of the original magazine cover.
