Description
(these are not character bio's but rather bios on their race) if you want to use my design for the vampire inkling, be my guest.i have went through extensive research before making these guys.
so their race is the sole survivor of their species, even though the vampire squid is called a "squid" it's actually not a squid, it has 8 arms and similar features to an octopus, but it's not an octopus either, but rather it's a primitive relative to the two cephalopod.
also i still have no idea what that yellow tendril is for, but i think since they lack suckers they use it to pull food in.
to these guys are the the future of that ancient species, but even as they rise out of the depths of the oceans to evolve into these guys, they still love to live in darkness.
and contrary to their name, they do NOT suck blood. they also have longer "fangs" aka oral plate protrusions, they are longer than the aver inkling and dominant octoling, but shorter than the blue ring octoling's oral plate protrusions
this version of the Vampire inkling belongs to me
Splatoon belongs to nintendo

According to inkling legends (aka: my headcanon) there was once a vampire inkling that did suck blood. His name: Count Ink-ula!

Wow great work! Β Β And if you wanted to know, the yellow tendril Β (called a velar filament) is used for catching food. Vampyroteuthis don't really swim so well. They just kind of drift along in the deep ocean, catch detritus (bits of dead sea animals and waste) with their filament, and bring it in to their beak. They aren't active predators. But they are soft and squishy - a similar texture to a jellyfish. One thing you'll want to keep in mind: their spines (known as cirri) are not sharp, but are soft and flexible.Β
Vampyroteuthis are great and lovable! Β You did such a good job with this.

yeah, i figured that was what the yellow tendril was used for.
and yeah, i know they don't swim well either.
and yeah i know the spines are soft and flexible.
also if the spines are soft and flexible, i guess it must be used a a bluff to fool predators to think it's actually spiky.
however, i think in this case they've evolved them into hard spikes

Vampyroteuthis only look intimidating. I don't imagine they can keep up so well with the faster, predatory squid species like Humboldts. That's how I designed my precious boy Jaxon. He is slow-moving, has little ink to spare, and doesn't really possess that "killer instinct" you'd find in other squids or octopuses. But anyhow, I appreciate that you put research into this project. That makes me happy.
