These are the creator's thoughts about the character. You are not obligated to use this backstory:

I thought Inoue would have a tomboyish character, forced to always smile and be lady-like by her step-father, the only thing that kept her running away was the love she had for her mother. Her mother was very kind and didn't like to see her family fighting, she would always encourage her daughter to stay calm and not fight with her step-father and brother, Inoue always loved her mother's sweet personality but at the same time, she wanted her mother to stood up for what she believed and not simply accept what everyone throws at her. As Inoue grew tired of dealing with her step family, her mother understood how hard it was for Inoue to fake being someone she was not and on a calm night she gave Inoue a letter to deliver to an old friend of hers.
When Inoue found the house she was meant to deliver the letter an old couple opened the door and without even asking who she was, let Inoue in. She gave them the letter and was amazed to learn that her mother doesn't used to be the sweet person she knows, the old man, after reading the letter, told Inoue her mother was one of the best spies they ever had, she used her personal charms in a lot of different ways to get the information needed, but later in her life, she fell in love with one of the target's servant and all she wanted was to start a family with him, but she was not allowed to leave the clan so easily, as a very talented kunoichi, Inoue's mother had been promised to marry another very strong ninja but she didn't want that life anymore, so in order to be allowed to leave, she needed to conceive a child of that ninja so she would give the clan a very promising ninja in the future. Inoue thought her mother's life before getting married was really amazing! And all her love for her mother turned into the same amount of admiration. Also, in the letter, her mother stated she never wanted to force Inoue to become a kunoichi herself but her personality and way of doing things really lead her mother into thinking there was no other better path for her.
Inoue met her real father, and even tho he was a bit awkward with the encounter Inoue was so happy to finaly meet him (and he was so cool too!), the only thing no one predicted is that Inoue didn't want to become a kunoichi (which the main role is to be a spy and gather information) she wanted to be trained as a Ninja, just like her father, after all, she believes she would never be able to be a good spy, as she could never fake who she really is anymore.
