This is a gorgeous dragon. Β Thank you for the free tutorial. Β Is there any chance of getting a list of the colors that you used? Β I love how the colors actually make it look like reptile skin. Β

There is luckily a list Β of its colours in the description here:Β rrkra.deviantart.com/art/Hi-I-…
Hopefully that helps

Might be a problem with your browser/phone, a few people complained before... Try downloading, or using a different browser

Wow! Gorgeous work, looks fantastic!
Β I'd like to try, that is the new technique for me. But I don't even know am I able to try something like this.
I guess that took a lot of beads to make it (and time of course).
Anyway thanks for the whole pattern!

Thanks^^
It can be hard, if you don't have experience with the stitches used. But not too hard, mostly takes long.

amberjackson1990 In reply to Rrkra [2013-04-17 14:51:40 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! There will definately be alot of practice before I attempt this. I have made lots of animals with the french beading technique but peyote seems to be alot harder to pick up. Keep up the good work.

Theblindbeader [2013-01-19 08:27:55 +0000 UTC]

Hi again, I have started a dragon but the power went out and I was up to the closing of the mouth to make the snout /nose part and so I just did what ever but make the bottom of the mouth / lower jaw part with your pattern it took me a bit to figure out as I can't see very well at all but I got something like it. I am doing mine in size 5 triangle beads and size 6 seed beads as the base. I TOTALLY LOVE the triangles for texture. Mine will be rather boring in that I don't think I can add the pattern like you did in the scales I can't visualize and make happen like that with patterns I once tried to brick stitch a galaxy around a blue goldstone bead in black and light blue but failed to get the arms of the spiral galaxy to go right. So I thought I will do my first one with no pattern but chose blue c/l amber (sort of iris blue or blue ab in colour) They look lovely. I want to do wings in tila beads for membrane and herringbone for the wingbones but large enough to fit the armature inside. I have 20mm dragon eye cabs that I peyote stitched around and make some herringbone ropes with size 15 and size 8 beads to be eyelids. I am adding gums and shell teeth to my mouth and I flat herringboned the tongue. So I think it will be different to your dragons and made with less skill as yours but I do my best and it will take me a LONG time already been about 3 weeks and just getting the last row of teeth on the mouth then I have to put the two halves together and stuff it with I am thinking bubble wrap and armature in the top of the mouth to hold it up and bring the armature down the head and neck. It is fun to think of how I will do each bit and I know I have your pattern to fall back on if I need to. Thank you for having done what I wanted to do for a long time. Now I have hope I can do it. Kind Regards The Blind Beader.

Yay, more dragons))
I have to agree, triangles give an awesome texture.
Iris blue looks good by itself, it'll look even better than many patterns... And I love how the rest of your plan looks, too. Experimenting ftw - there's not so much fun in strictly following the instructions.
Takes ages to complete, but it's a project to be proud of

Good luck, I'd love to see the dragon once it's made.

Found your work while looking for something like this to try. Love it. Started the work but am using 15s since they are all I had on hand. The tutorial is super easy to follow. Thanks for posting it.

Rrkra In reply to poncamom [2012-12-31 02:20:23 +0000 UTC]

Good luck with it
Size 15s can be tricky to deal with, but they give a great texture

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

poncamom In reply to Rrkra [2013-01-03 19:09:16 +0000 UTC]

I started it with the 15s yes the texture is amazing! It will be smaller then the one you show but a bit bigger then I originally thought. I would love to try it with 22s or even 24s. But that would require shrinking the pattern a bit as they are hard to come by.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rrkra In reply to poncamom [2013-01-03 20:27:21 +0000 UTC]

I had a pack of 22s, never seen 24s O_o
That would also require a reeeally thin needle...

I'd love to see it when it's done

poncamom In reply to Rrkra [2013-01-04 03:50:50 +0000 UTC]

Oh definitely, It's your pattern and design so you get the credit for it. I just have a really awesome reason to bead. My 24s were my great grandmother's from around a 100 years or so ago lol. Until I saw your tutorial I had no idea what to use them for I just knew it had to be super special.
