Description
I recreated the Final Fantasy VII start screen in Illustrator. I'd been meaning to remake the start screen for quite some time, and the trailer for the remake really pushed me to finish this illustration. Having already done the line art for both versions of the Buster Sword helped immensely, but on close inspection it Square Enix updated the iconic sword a second time (albeit subtly). The gold, ornate cross guard has been reverted back to the familiar cross-section of an I-beam with five bolts, and the handle now has spirals on it (I might do a comparison of all three iterations of the sword in the future). Essentially, Square Enix retconned the Buster Sword twice. The engravings on the hilt remain. The font was tough; the closest I could match was Verdana which I had to heavily modify. Upgrading the cursor to HD was also fun. Overall, a fun exercise in vector illustration.
