Description
Another painting for my acrylics class at Ringling. Shoes are a bitch to paint, I’ll tell you that! The biggest lesson I learned from this painting is never be too scared or too proud to ask for help. If you can’t figure out what to do, chances are the teacher will. Don’t get frustrated and give up. Actually, that’s something the whole program (with some help from my dad) taught me. I’m really glad I went.At one point, they had to move everything in the room around for critique and we had to mark where our shoes were off with tape. However, that did NOTHING because the people who moved stuff UNPEELED THE TAPE. Bastards. So we had to figure out where our stuff was on our own.

This is excellent! I'll empathize with you on drawing shoes, hahah, not my style, that's for sure... How's Ringling? Recently I've been really interested in going there.

Not a problem friend! I hope to go tour it soon, for so far it's the only place that gives me any interest.

I guess I didn't favourite this before. He he... oops...
It really is compositionally compelling, and the title sells it.

I do. I am not one to pretend to like something. I do think that the title enhances the experience, I like the color scheme and the light/shadows on the shoe have an eighties romantic foreign film feel to them. (well, they feel like something, that's the best description I could come up with.) I found my self going back to look at it so I must like it.

it's beautifully done, and i like the title, it indeed looks like probably the most lonesome shoe i've ever seen painted

indeed, they are well, maybe in spite of shoes bought by people who were born one-legged, then their shoe must be used to being the only one I guess

True...a friend of mine had an interesting encounter at the movie theatre he works at recently. She asked if she could go out for a smoke, and he said yes, but that she would have to show him her stub when she came back. He meant her ticket stub, but he almost got fired.

oh well you know I'm sure the story is funny, but for me it's a little bit confusing 'since I don't know what a "stub" means

I meant to say that the woman had only one leg....he asked to see her ticket stub and she thought he meant the remains of leg. O_O

Those jerks. Anyway, I like the color scheme here. Which makes me wonder why there is so little color in your gallery.

Thanks! It was required that we use either burnt sienna or yellow ochre. THe reason there isn't a lot of color in here is because...I'm too lazy to really color anything, let alone color something well.

Good reason. Laziness can be terrible, but I think that it needs to be respected more.
I was happy to see these two paintings because A: they were in paint, and B: they show a greater grasp of subtlety than most of your drawings. I don't know if this means you should paint more, or if it means you should be more sketchy with your drawings.

Well, most of the drawings I have posted here are just doodles from various half-filled sketchbooks. There’s hardly anything that took actual effort.

True.
Not as cool as intricately detailed digital paintings, though.

Okay, apeaking of details.(probably being a horrible nit-picker).
Is it intentional when you say "...and monkeys do to (if..." ?

It's probably my favourite, er... underscore, footer, quote thing for comments. I caught the "to" the first time I read it, and then promptly forgot. I always remembered that there was something grammatical going on, but whenever I read it my brain edited it for me and I was confused. I just... re-noticed? it now.

Your welcome. Keeping up with spelling and grammar can be so difficult when you're being clever. (just before sending this I changed "your" into you're. Which is not to say that this commetn is particularly clever.)
