I have never before been set up on a date in illustration. It is an interesting experience. Ha ha. Everyone that I've shown this too got a big kick out of it. (that's right, a big kick. I can say that if I want to.)

I got the idea when Basia asked me if I was going to draw you something for your birthday. I had been planning to, but I hadn't known what. I figured that if I drew something, it had to be something Basia would like. Then I got the idea of you and Basia having dinner. It went through various stages, usually with me as the waiter, but I settled on the idea of just her at the table, which seems to work just fine.

A bit accustomed to psychic phenomena... (You just love dropping things like that with no plan to elaborate, don't you?) My mental image was different. Except for the shoulders. Which is a bit odd, now that I think of it. I pictured her with short wavy blond hair.. actually I pictured her kind of like [link] only blondish and tiny.
