Description
My entry for the bug catching monthly contest. On to the story!Edit: I thought because of the extension I'd brush up the background a little + I edited some mistakes I'd made in the story hah...

The sun beamed down through the trees where the larvae huddled, trying to stay warm as winter began to end and the autumn sun crawled in. No leaves were astride their backs, although some insects nibbled slowly on some juicy foliage to stray from boredom. They didn’t think about using their leaves as camouflage; all that was on their minds was keeping warm and soaking up the sun in this dense forest.
A cool breeze swept across the ground causing the bugs to shiver and huddle closer, until a rustle from behind a tree and movement through the grass turned their heads. It was another buddee. He scuttled fast, pushing the tall grass away with his antennae and clutching a large leaf to his back.
He squeaked. “Everyone, come look at this!”
The little bugs bustled and began to move towards where his small leg pointed, their bulbous, red eyes glistened with curiosity.
Another cold wind blew but the buddee’s confidence kept the rest of the bugs’ hopeful; hopeful that he had found somewhere warm for them to eat and rest.
Finally, he stopped and moved the grass out of the way, to reveal a glistening blue rock under a waterfall of sun. Every buddee’s eyes widened with wonder.

The sun beamed down through the trees where Skylar circled on the soft grass, trying to get comfortable.
Today was the bug catching contest but Skylar had no intention of catching ANY bugs. She may be afraid of many things but bugs were definitely in the top 3. Just thinking about their spindly legs and all-seeing eyes made her skin crawl.
Alas, she couldn’t be left out from this event, so she followed everyone out to where the contest began and boldly told them she would go off by herself to find the BEST bug. But she wasn’t going to come back with a bug… she pondered over what she could tell them as she positioned herself in the grass. She saw a monster! A massive one! It chased her all around the forest so she had no time to catch anything.
Images of astounded wyngrew faces floated around her head as she dozed off to sleep.

The buddees strode out of the thick undergrowth in single file. After marvelling at the mysterious and beautiful stone they all ventured to find the freshest leaf they could to comfortably lay on the rock.
Its sides were incredibly smooth but their legs could grip onto it with ease, so they all piled on eagerly, eventually transforming the blue rock into a green one.
Most of the bugs were astride their beloved boulder by now, but some were still climbing over it, until… the rock shook.
Everyone froze and looked around slowly, all wondering, did you feel that too?
Suddenly, the peace and comfort was broken as their rock erupted; belting a roar that shook every leaf from its’ back and sending the defenceless buddees flying.
***
Skylar dreamt of flying through the air, whisking through clouds and the wind whispering as it dashed passed her ears. Unfortunately, that sound was replaced by the awful buzzing sound of… a bug. She turned to see a revolting lumibug creature, twice the size of her, flying beside her. Its disgusting fur covered body enveloped her and its millions of legs tickled her whole body.
Skylar’s eyes snapped open to feel just that, millions of bugs covering her body. She gasped and tensed up. Was this a nightmare?
Her eyes darted around quickly. Nope. This is the place where she fell asleep. This was real.
Fear began to fill her body until she could hold no more. She leaped up, shaking and shivering, letting out a high pitched scream. The bugs flew off her as she bolted into the trees.
She trembled and cried as she ran from her monster; the terrifying buddees; who were left to scamper around the clearing frantically, dazed as their beautiful, blue rock fled.

Ahh... sorry if it's long! I love writing so this was heaps of fun!! Sorry if it's confusing and hard to read. I hope writing from the bug's perspective is okay??
I was going to use Pan for this, or do two entries but I just didn't have time. Maybe I'll do the other one just for fun later.
Well, you definitely get an insight into Skylar's personality here! And writing like this definitely helped me form a more solid personality for her.
Also, credit to Solminol because I used this process thingy they put up to create a quick background solminol.deviantart.com/art/Sc… thank you!!
