Description
I made this DragonBall Z lamp for my brother John for Christmas. He's been totally obsessed with the show (and gotten me hooked, too) so I knew he'd love it. I actually bought the lamp a while ago, but couldn't decide what to put on it.

So here's a bunch of the main characters from the Namek saga! I'm particularly proud of how Shenron turned out If you notice, his body wraps around the bottom of the lamp. As a finishing touch, I bought a Dragonball key chain and added it as the switch pulley.

Usually when I decorate shoes and things, I draw directly onto the item. Since this was a lamp, however, I took a different approach, and sketched out all the characters beforehand. Then I taped them to the inside of the lamp, lit it up using a flashlight, and traced them onto the surface. This helped to make sure everything turned out just how I wanted, and I was able to carefully arrange them to make sure everyone fit (also now I have a bunch of little paper cutouts of them!).
