As a thank you for freeing him from Eggman's control, Fenix had his company and got the help of Doctor Ellidy to create a fully functional biomechanical body for Nicole. After saving her from the Norhammer Egg Boss and nearly getting himself killed on another mission, Nicole tries to convince Fenix to take a break by going out shopping with her, while she has time off from pursuing a musical career. For the ShardxNicole fans, the headcanon is strongly influenced by the current continuity in the Archie comics, however, she is aware of the previous timeline and that something is missing (which means they've both lost someone(additionally judging by how the fight with Metal Sonic ended it would appear, the writers were killing him off anyway to conform with: there is only one Metal Sonic policy of SEGA)). Again Fenix considers her to be a good friend and any romantic feelings she may or may not have are one sided.
