Stormy Sunsets! This is something very different from what I usually post but I am extremely proud of it. I have been avoiding practicing rendered backgrounds for a while because it always looked so hard to me. I saw the sunset from my house and it inspired me to reference this stormy sunset picture I found online. I chose to do clouds because it’s easy to practice replicating the texture of clouds. Most of this painting is on one later except for some tiny highlights and it only took me two days working on and off. It was so satisfying and relaxing to slowly work through each part of the painting and add in details and texture. I started by sketching out shapes then blocking out colors and then adding details and color picking from the image, but I’m glad I didn’t start by tracing the image shapes because it allowed me to add my own flare and perspective. Overall I love this and I hope you guys do too! Enjoy!
