Description
I got the Little Monster down so it was time to move on to his dad evil genius creator. Who wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought he would be. Even a bit fun to draw!Plus, a few odd sketches of some of the other characters to practice/fill space. Pleakley is like the easiest thing to draw ever. Also interesting to note: Jumba and Stitch are actually EXTREMELY SIMILAR style-wise. And since I was watching the original movie while doing this, I caught Jumba telling Stitch, "I tried to give you my good looks!" so I can attest to the fact that he probably did base Stitch off himself. I'm just surprised Stitch doesn't have four eyes!

I'm guessing you are a fan of the Jumba/Stitch father/son bond too? I just read your short story on your other picture, absolutely adorable! I'm also working on a story based around these two.
I've wondered that myself (about the four eyes) although I figured rather than four eyes he decided to give Stitch four arms as he already has acute vision.
The drawing where you compared their head shapes on the lower right is something I've often pondered about a lot too. They look almost identical in head structure so it's obvious Stitch has Jumba's DNA.

Oh yeah I definitely like the idea of a father/son relationship between Jumba and Stitch! (In fact, it was one of the few things I liked about Stitch has a Glitch). I'm glad you liked my other picture and story, I'm so proud of it!
In the short, Origins of Stitch, it shows some of the alien creatures Jumba used to make Stitch; the one he got the eyes from only had two eyes. So that kind of explains that! He was probably just looking for a creature with the best possibly vision, and it just happened to have two.
But yeah, I definitely think that Jumba used some of his own DNA in Stitch (if not all of his experiments, as some of them look even more like him than Stitch). Honestly it seems like exactly the thing an 'evil genius' would do!

It's something I've always loved, ever since I saw the first movie They have such an adorable relationship. I know a lot of people hate the anime, but they really go into the bond between them in it and Jumba calls him his son a few times. He does confirm at one point that Stitch has his DNA too (even though people say the anime is non-canon when it technically is) Stitch has a Glitch is my favourite movie!
It was heartbreaking seeing Jumba so devastated at losing him.
I think that he has, though it was never confirmed by Chris. Like here for example: images6.fanpop.com/image/photo…
He's so chubby (and cute!) but he's certainly a dead-ringer for Jumba!
Yes I noted that too, that most of the experiments look like him. I think he has the strongest relationship with Stitch out of any of them though. I view them as 'experiments' but I view Stitch as his child.
The Origin of Stitch short is so heartwarming!

To be honest I'm not quite interested in the anime! I wouldn't want to consider it canon, because I think the idea of Lilo leaving Stitch is ridiculous. Though I wouldn't be adverse to accepting facts from it! It's cool that it mentioned the DNA thing, and Jumba calling Stitch his son is adorable.
Yeah, Stitch is definitely Jumba's closest experiment (in the short, he literally says that Stitch is his greatest creation!). Though I definitely think he loves all his experiments. I figure he thinks of the more intelligent ones (Nosey, Slick, Bonnie and Clyde, Sparky, Angel, etc.) as his kids and the more animal-like ones (Spike, Fibber, Yin and Yang, etc.) as beloved pets.

I used to hate it myself. I would always be disgusted by it when I first heard of it. Then I actually sat through it and watched it, and it was like I judged a book by it's cover. Sure some of the episodes are corny/silly, especially season 3 (which was pretty bad compared to season 1 - 2) but the OVA's totally make up for it, especially Planet of Sand, which was freaking amazing.
Lilo never left him technically, they promised to meet and Nani was having a baby so she couldn't get to Stitch and Stitch was heartbroken by it. She did come back for him, but he'd already gone. There was an episode to it, thought you've probably heard of it by now. I consider it canon, but not canon to Chris's series.
It's okay if you don't like it. As I said, not many do. I'm one of the rare hardcore Lilo and Stitch fans that also likes the anime heh XD But yeah, I loved how they went further into the bond in it! I just wish we could have seen that in the original series! If you hate the anime too, that's totally okay. It's not everybody's cup of tea.
Yeah, I can understand that! I like the other experiments, and I loved the TV series. But overall, I prefer the movies.

More power to you if you like it! I can't actually make a judgement call on how good it is, since I haven't seen it yet. I might see it some day, but I just really like Lilo so it doesn't hold much interest for me since she's not in it. If I do watch it, it'll likely be for the new experiments that are in it
I like the original movie, and Stitch the Movie and Leroy and Stitch. There was something off about Stitch has a Glitch in my opinion, though it wasn't terrible. But I really did like the show! I wish it had more episodes. I would've loved to see more experiments.

I see. I'm not a big fan of Lilo with how she treated Stitch a few times in the series, and especially in Stitch has a Glitch, but I don't mind her. I'm just not that much of a fan of her compared to Stitch and Jumba, so that's why I don't mind she wasn't in the anime.
The new experiments are interesting, especially one called Flute. If you think Stitch is similar to Jumba, you should see him. He's literally identical to Jumba, exact same nose and eyes. Though that experiment was kinda weird.
I wonder why? I didn't think anything was off about it. I loved it that it went further into the relationship between the family. I didn't mind Stitch the Movie and Leroy and Stitch, but the originals are my favourites. I would have loved to see more of the series too! It's frustrating they never released it on DVD.

Yeah, sometimes Lilo's behavior isn't the best. But she's also like eight years old and lost her parents, and that can cause a lot of issues in kids. Plus the bullying from Mertle (who her teacher seems absolutely unwilling to do anything about, like that guy literally stood aside while Mertle teased Lilo about her parents being dead in one episode) I don't much blame her. I like to see her learn and grow.
I actually don't really know why I feel it's off! It's weird, I can't really place it myself. I guess it just didn't strike all the right cords with me. Maybe since I grew up watching the Series, and Stitch has a Glitch is a bit different stylistically/thematically.

Yeah. Just how she instantly blamed Stitch's actions as ruining her dance instead of finding out what was wrong with him annoyed me. I know the dance was important to her, but she realised too late.
It's understandable how she acts, but she's a brat a few times. Especially in Phoon and Tank. Moses certainly could have done more, but even if he did or would, we won't get to see it as there is no more seasons to explore it.
Ah, that's probably why. I grew up watching the movies and then the series (though I think I saw Stitch as a Glitch after the series. Can't remember as it was many years back now.) So that's why I favour them. I feel like the series lost a bit of the feel of the original movies. Stitch was humble, adult-like and sweet/caring in the movies, but in the series he's more like a spoiled kid. Lilo was kind of the same. I see the series as a different sort of universe of Lilo and Stitch. For example, in the series the dome they share is completely different and for some reason one of the hula girls is named Aleka instead of Teresa. In the movies it was a huge room with the bunk bed. Why didn't they do that in the series?
The series was really kind of rushed in a way compared to the feel of the movies and I feel like they had a limited budget to work with, but it would have been great to see it more true to the originals. I'm still a fan though! I grew up watching it too. I remember rushing home from school everyday to watch it and getting up very early every Saturday morning to watch it! I also have a great memory of the time they were promoting the series with signing up for Foxtel (cable TV here) and I asked the guy if I got my parents to sign up if I could get a Stitch plush they had for the promotion, and when they did he came around and gave it to me. Good nostalgic times! XD

Honestly Lilo's behavior in Stitch has a Glitch is probably part of the reason I don't like it. And I'm pretty sure they say the name Theresa for one of the girls all the time.
Well in the first movie, their house was completely destroyed. I took it as they rebuilt the house and made the dome Lilo's new room. I honestly like her dome room, it's so cool!
That's so cute! I went to Disney World when I was 11, and I was so into Stitch then! I got a ton of Stitch pins and two Stitch plushies. I still have the bigger plushie I got! His colors are a bit different than in the movie (he's pale blue with darker eye rings/belly and sparkly ears) but he's really cute! He's sitting on my dresser.

No, Moses definitely says Aleka in Stitch has a Glitch! Unless Aleka somehow sounds like Teresa lol. He says it at the end when she does the 'dance of the pineapple' and just after she finishes.
Yeah, but in the series the dome changed, so it was a little confusing. Their room got tiny! It was so much nicer in the movies.
I'd always dreamed of going to Disney World! I finally was able to go last year. I went on Stitch's Great Escape twice. I've been to America twice now. I love it over there. I was very fortunate to be able to go and I often think about it everyday. I was also fortunate to be able to go to Disneyland back in 2012. I was sad they didn't have much Stitch there. Though it was the same for Zootopia. I tried finding merchandise for that and was told by a cast member they'd all sold out!
I have a Snowball Stitch on my desk. He's my favourite plushie! He's pure white with a little snowsuit.

Ah, Stitch has a Glitch must be the only one where she's called Aleka, because I know that I'm the series two of the girls are Yuki and Theresa. I can't remember the third girls name off the top of my head.
Eh, I try not to focus on smaller details like that. I know that a lot of it is because of different animators and whatnot. Expeciallu with TV shows, they have to simplify things because they are working on so much stuff.
I want to go back to Disney so bad! It was so much fun. I want to find Stitch and Lion King stuff, those are my two favorite Disney movies. That all-white stitch sounds adorable!

Yeah, I wonder why they didn't use the name Aleka in the series? Maybe it sounded too similar to Elena (the blonde girl), so I guess that makes sense.
There's often a loss on continuity between different animators and directors. They don't really focus so much on the details of what should be there and what shouldn't be there, just more so on meeting quota. It's a shame though. The series would have been so much nicer if they'd used the elements from the movies. For example, Stitch's colour pallet and body structure changing drastically. I guess they just decided to change things up to make it easier and quicker for the animators?
I'm not complaining though! I really love the series in general. Whoops made me laugh pretty hard.
Disney is so beautiful! It's really disappointing for us here in Australia that we don't have one. Our theme parks don't really compare lol.

Honestly I kinda prefer Stitch's look in the series. I think he looks nicer, and I chock up his changes to 'Stitch is still young in the original movie and he gets older so his body type changes a little, and his fur gets brighter colored'. I honestly don't see Stitch as full grown! He's still a kid with growing to do in my head (though I headcanon that his growth is paused at this point, by some gene Jumba implanted. He won't age any more unless Jumba turns it off.)
Disney is terrific! I wish I had the money to go back.

My favourite design of his is Alex Kupershmidts. There is something just so dynamic and beautiful that he captures with Stitch that makes him flow so perfectly and I'm struggling to replicate it. I've never been able to.
I also love his design in Stitch has a Glitch best. He's far more bloated/chubbier than the original but it suits him in that movie.
I don't see him as fully grown either, but I do see him as mentally mature. He acts very childlike in ShaG but at the end of the first movie you see him helping with chores and making lunch. I love how he acts more mature than Lilo at times in the series. Like when he outright told her it was her fault in Sprout XD ("You could at least pretend that I didn't mess up so bad just to make me feel better!" "I cannot")
I think his colour scheme is very vivid in the series, but much softer in the movies. Overall I prefer classic Stitch. I don't really like the sharp defined lines he has in the series.
I wish I could go back to America again!

I suppose I have a bit of a sharper style myself, so I just appreciate that, haha. Is the design you mentioned from the Anime? Or is Alex who did ShaG?
And I do see him as being mature, but still not adult-mature. Like a kid who's mature for his age but still a giant doofus most of the time.

Alex is the guy that did original Stitch on the first film
www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfkv89…
There's a whole bunch of different animators that worked on him over the movies, but Alex's style has stuck with me the most.
Haha, yeah I get you! I feel that way about him too. XD

That video was super interesting, thanks for showing me!!! Watching it probably will help me draw Stitch in the future-- but I also think that yeah, I definitely have a preference for Stitch's less 'stubby' body in the series. Only because it's more in line with my own style; classic stitch is adorable but I would definitely struggle to draw him like that. And since I headcanon it as his older, more developed body, it fits because I'll probably draw most things post-Leroy and Stitch, haha.

No problem! That's one of my favourite videos. There is also one where it shows Lilo too!
Stitch is honestly quite hard to pull off, in my honest opinion. He looks simple but when you observe him closer you realise there's more to him than just simple shapes. I still struggle drawing him lol.
I prefer his stubby style

Definitely! Though he wasn't nearly as hard to draw as I thought he would be. Once I did get his basic shapes down, it's easy to make poses and whatnot.
Stubby Stitch is definitely adorable! And you draw him spot-on; your style is virtually indistinguishable from from Disney!

Yeah! He's easy in some sense, but in others getting his proportions accurate to the original can be hard. It took me a while to understand his anatomy for what it is, not just looking at him on the screen (etc, construction, form, how he moves in 3D space)
Thank you. ^^ I really try my best, that's such a nice compliment to hear!
