Description "Sorry, Mother. But you're the exception, not the rule."

Callandra "Andy" Ochoa is Marid's younger sister. She's the second oldest of Cryz's five adopted Mythical children, a full-blooded Drow. Normally, she's kind of your average teenager (around 19 in current canon), or at least as average as one can be growing up home-schooled in the woods outside a major city and trying to teach yourself to use potentially dangerous magic. Her life is normal enough that she loves her family, considers her brother, Madrid, her best friend, and has a boyfriend (a gargoyle). She has a slight temper, and can get annoyed with her younger siblings, but she's usually rather understanding and adventurous. Part of her wonders about her people, why she was abandoned/how she was orphaned, and wishes she could learn more about Drow (even though she learns when she's old enough to understand that she wasn't given to a drow family because drow hate humans and MITH couldn't contact any).

However, that all changed when her family was kidnapped by Constance Pryor. Constance forced her brother, Marid, to give up his freedom to save his family, and when she and the rest of her family were returned to their home, she discovered her boyfriend had been killed trying to rescue her. In a fit of inconsolable rage and grief, Andy succumbs to her darkness and vanishes.

Andy discovers she was snatched away by her people, who sensed her inner darkness leaking through and wished to teach her to control it and keep it from becoming consuming and destructive. Drow as a general rule, however, harbor a deep hatred for humans so her grief and anger is groomed into being directed at humans. ("It was, after all, humans who enslaved your brother and killed the boy you loved.") Deep down she is incredibly conflicted, being raised and surrounded by good humans who cared for her, but as she delves deeper into her powers and potential, she puts more and more trust into the drow teaching her.

---

Oh Andy, my tragic little drow baby. Hon, what would Marid think if he saw what you're becoming?

So! Yeah, all drow run the risk of being overtaken and controlled by the inner darkness that gives them their powerful magic. It's the price to pay for being nearly as powerful as djinn.

I'm like, really proud of that picture. I experimented with the shading and lighting, and I'm rather happy with how it came out.

Tethered Heights, story, character, and art belong to me.
