I first must say that, I feel embarrassed that I held Russia fondly, wanting to learn the culture, the language, only for them to go and cause a completely unprovoked attack on Ukraine, a country that is literally left to fend for themselves. What's making it worse is that Ukraine was not part of NATO, Meaning they are literally on their own. Many other leaders are sending weapons, supplies and even personnel, but are scared to get directly involved for fear that Russia may turn the tables on them.

And yet, there are people who will advocate for this. They say that Russia is superior, that Ukraine is weak and powerless. The media is spreading false lies to people, to fear monger. Meanwhile there are Ukrainians cowering in their homes, in train stations, clogging the highways to flee the country. There are soldiers dying for their country that does not deserve this treatment, there are civilians being targeted by Russian soldiers. An 8 year old girl killed by a missile while riding a bike, an elderly man having his car crushed by a Russian tank while minding his own business, a family cowering in fear as their farm is attacked by a Russian fighter jet.

"But how do you make peace if you don't want to talk to your enemy?"
"Once again today, passions are threatening to spill over into bloodshed..."

While I sit here, safe in my house, drinking a bourbon, listening to the rain on my roof and the wind at my windows, there are heroes emerging in the war-torn Ukraine. The Ghost of Kyiv, the 21st Century's first Ace Pilot, the Ukraine Reaper, a soldier who single-handedly killed 30 Russians, a young soldier sacrifices his life to stop a Russian convoy, the soldiers of Snake Island, who were killed for telling a Russian Warship to "go f**k yourself", Olena Bilozerska, who took down 10 Russian snipers and most important, President Vlodomyr Zelentskyy, who rejected America's evacuation offer to instead stay and fight for his homeland and his people, despite being a prime target for the Russian Military. A good captain always goes down with his ship.

"War is where the young and stupid are tricked by the old and bitter into killing each other"

While I cannot do anything, I think of how easy life is right now. Meanwhile, people are dying for a stupid cause. A cause that should never have happened. But all I can do at this stage is sit here and pray for the safety of our fellow pilgrims, on the streets of Ukraine, whose lives may be in danger.

"War does not determine who is right, only who is left..."

As I watch the lack of humanity and the constant insanity stockpiling on the path to our own extinction. Hate and greed added to the mixture as countries fight for territory, creating more and more enemies in the crumbling remains of a dying world. But in these harrowing times, we must stop and ask ourselves:
"Are we born to violence? Can we stop in time?"
