Description
Introductions - Onyx and AryaLocation: Coyote Deep Crypt, unknown whereabouts
Time: Unknown
Date: 30th May, year unknown
I crouched behind a rock. My partner, Arya, crouched on the other side of the cave's entrance, holding a crossbow. There was a vampire in here, I knew it! I had it planned out. Arya would stay here and guard the entrance. If anything tries to flee, she's here to stop it. I would go in and kill the blood-sucker. I checked my belt, I had my cross, my wooden stakes and my holy water. And on the back of my belt, a knife and extra bullets. Normally, you don't shoot blood-suckers as it doesn't do anything to them but I usually shoot to wound, makes them easier to catch since they can't run with a bullet in their leg.
"You right to watch the exit?" I whispered. Arya gave me a thumbs up. She may be small, but she was built like a warrior. When on hunts she usually wore a steel breastplate with chain mail and iron shoulder pads tipped with wooden spikes to stop the blood suckers infecting her with their rotten disease. It kind of made her look like a warrior.
"Get in there and find that blood-sucking freak!" Arya hissed in her scottish accent "I got things covered out here!"
"Watch my back" I hissed. I put a fresh magazine into my gun and slowly crept down into the darkness. A faint smell crept up from the cave within. The pungent smell of a vampire! I crept through the cave, the smell just got worse and worse. I couldn't wait to kill it! Nothing made me more excited then killing a vampire. I felt around in the dark to find the path. I felt dirt, rocks, pebbles and what felt like really thick water? I grabbed my phone and shone the screen at my hand. Yuck! Blood! Ugh! That bastard, I'll kill it for that! I placed my phone back in my pocket. The cave was quiet, the only light came from the entrance above me. I crept forward, feeling my way until a dim light lit up a hallway, cut into the side of the cave. I crept through and found candles lining the walls, lighting the way. I slowly and carefully crept forward, gun in hand. I was close to the prick now! His pungent smell was overwhelming to my nostrils. I came to a large clearing filled with candles. Right ahead of me, on the far wall, stood an open coffin. Blood covered the dirt on the floor of the cave and bones littered the ground around the coffin. I crept into the cave but the vampire was nowhere to be seen.
"You're a fool, mortal one!" said a deep scratchy voice. I looked around before I was suddenly pushed with great force.
"Oh shit!" I yelled as I flew headfirst into the coffin. I turned around and saw a strange purple light hovering in the air. It faded away suddenly, revealing the vampire and his fiery red eyes, wearing a medieval-styled black tunic and matching black boots. A steel dagger hung from his hip, next to a small sack of something.
"I smelled your foul scent the moment you arrived in that metal carriage" it hissed "I cannot miss the foul smell of a moonborn!!"
"Enough!" I demanded, pulling my gun
"Ah, you brought a gun! Foolish!" he laughed. I raised the gun but it was suddenly wrenched from my hand and flew across the cave.
"Goddamn it!" I grunted. It crashed into the far wall with a loud clack. A shot rang out, echoing around the cavern, only to be replaced by the vampire's cackles.
"You're stupid, Mortal One! I shall take delight in feasting on your flesh and blood!" he grinned, displaying large fangs. Blood started running down his pale white chin, dripping onto the dirt. "Now your blood is mine!" he growled, stalking towards me. He stopped suddenly, screaming in pain.
"Take that, Blood-Sucker!" Arya's voice yelled. The vampire spun around, revealing an arrow sticking out of his shoulder.
"You will pay for that mistake, Mortal One!" he growled
"Come at me!" Arya taunted. I climbed to my feet and grabbed my stake. Go for the heart! The vampire ran towards Arya, at the same time, I jumped on it, wrapping my arm around its neck.
"Gotcha!" I yelled. The vampire spun and threw me across the cavern with unrelenting force. I crashed into the rocky wall and fell. It hurt, but I was used to it. The vampire ran towards me as Arya threw Holy Water on it. It screeched in pain as I clutched my stake and ran at it. "Gotcha again!" I yelled, plunging the stake into its heart. The vampire let out a loud unearthly screech that faded into a howl. It fell to its knees, desperately clawing at the wooden stake. Its howl faded into a yell and then a squeal as it fell onto its back and died.
"Jeezus!" Arya gasped "You OK, Onyx?"
"Uh...yeah, yeah I'm good" I said "Business as usual"
"Yeah" she said. She slung her crossbow over her shoulder and grabbed the vampire's corpse. "Cummon, we'll get him out to the car and get the bonfire set up". She dragged the corpse out of the cavern as I looked around one last time. I spied my gun, lying by the doorway.
"Ah...Gun!" I whispered. I picked it up and placed it in my belt. I figured while Arya was lighting the bonfire, I'd throw some fuel over this place and burn any remains of that Blood-Sucker! Damn freaks!

Anyways, that's just a glimpse of what I do. Hi! I'm Onyx. As you can probably tell, I'm a vampire hunter. I have dedicated my life to ridding the world of these freaks. It began when I was driving home late one night. It was a secluded area, away from...well...everyone. But I had found a car. It was sitting on the road's shoulder with its hazard lights on. Judging by the damage, I figured it had just broken down or had hit a large animal. But that wasn't the case, no, no, not at all! Three corpses were in the car, a teenage boy and two teenage girls, they looked like they had been mauled by bears. Blood was everywhere. I figured it was a murder scene. But as I rang the police, vampires came out of the woods and attacked me. I couldn't get out of there quick enough. I escaped with my life but that encounter drove me to become what I am. As for Arya, well, she shares the same passion for killing vampires that I have. But her story is different, see, her family were killed by vampires when she was only 12. She's 23 now but the hatred is still raw. We met about 3 years ago while I was on a hunt. She was deeply interested in my work and well...we became inseparable. Both professionally and romantically. Since then, we've made quite a name for ourselves. Or maybe it's because of our car? I don't know. See, to hunt vampires, you gotta have a reliable vehicle. Big to carry your stuff, strong to withstand being attacked. Now, my vehicle of choice is a station wagon (Ha ha, the dickhead drives a station wagon!) but our car sticks out in traffic like a straight guy in a gay bar. If it's not the camoflauge netting, the wooden stakes or the spiked metal bars on it, then it's gotta be the crucifixes, the caged backseat or the big searchlights on the front fenders. Whatever the case, we have a strange looking car. But it gets the job done. Anyways, so that's enough about us. And more about what we do. Well, as I said, we're vampire hunters. Basically, we get a hunt given to us by someone who wants a vampire problem gone and has the money to do it. We take the information, the money and we set out to find the problem and kill it. It's dangerous work, no one has found a cure for vampirism, which means myself and Arya have to take extreme precautions so we don't get infected. And well, none of us have been bitten yet! To keep ourselves defended, we wear custom-built belts, like the ones police officers wear. We each use these belts to carry two wooden stakes, a bottle of holy water, a crucifix, a holster for a handgun, a knife sheath and extra bullets. Vampires can't be killed by guns but it's effective at slowing them down and even crippling them if you hit them in the right place. Arya carries a firearm but prefers to use a crossbow because bolts are easier to make. I only use the handgun with intent to harm, not kill. If a blood-sucker wants to run, you take a shot at the leg and it knocks them down, giving you a few seconds to get them while they're down because, my God, they are super strong!! Anyways, that's just a bit of insight about us and what we do! Onyx out!
