Description
The Ogryn Ripsaw is an oversized chainsaw developed as a tool for Ogryn labourers in civil and military engineering. In desperate situations when second and third line trenches were overrun and soldiers had to resort to using their bare hands or any object within arms reach, or when defences were assaulted while still under construction, it was found that many Ogryn took to the Ripsaw as a useful ad-hoc weapon. This led to units of Ogryn Combat Engineers being formed in a number of Imperial Guard regiments. These specialist Ogryns are used as a vanguard to clear obstacles and defences, as well as those defending them, ahead of the advancing main force. Although these units have some ranged weapons, most Ogryn Combat Engineers are armed with the Ripsaw as it is equally good at chewing into barricades, armour, and flesh. If the heavy and overbuilt Ripsaw runs out of fuel during a prolonged engagement, to the Ogryn wielder it is just as useful as a club.
