Last year, bezo97 released his program IFSRenderer:

It's a fully 3D fractal flame editor which allows you to navigate your camera through 3D space around and into your fractal flame. I decided to write a tutorial on how to make nice nebulae with star fields on the Wiki. You can find it here:

It explains how to make 3D nebula which are essentially the 3D equivalent of the well known spherical plants from the likes of Apophysis, Fractorium, or Chaotica.

I encourage anyone who likes fractal flames to try this, the design process is pretty unique with the freedom of movement, but it's not easy to find transforms that work well in 3D because almost all of them are non-conformal (i.e. distort your flame).
